AROTC January Board Acceptance

Helen. You sound VERY Competitive. now that all is in order at cadet command, things should go much smoother for you.

Thanks for house06 for that post. Those are some good questions I haven't thought about before.

Congrats NCMom.....I will too continue to check being the same sort of impatient Mom!

helen you do seem to have a very competitive file. If you are thinking about vet school, you may want to seriously consider taking the ACT again. You still have time and improvement is always a great thing. It shows initiative and determination. Good Luck! good things are headed your way in time.

Thanks-I'm a newbie

I just started reviewing these forums and wanted to let everyone know how much I appreciate all of the info. My daughter is an AROTC applicant and we went through a lot of the issues with "missing info" that was really there. Our PMS and ROO were awesome with their availability and timeliness in answering all of our questions. We are still "patiently" waiting for selection....she far more so than I! It's just nice to know that I am not alone in the neurotic parent department with checking sites every day! Thank you all for alleviating my fears

Thanks!

I appreciate everyone's well wishes! This board was so helpful to me in December when there was a major paperwork "snafu" for my son. He missed the December board because of the interview not being submitted, and CC was extremely helpful in getting things corrected as soon as possible.

I do have an update on schools--my son called his #1 school today and they told him his scholarship is a four year to #2 school. He was very helpful and advised my son to accept the scholarship and request a transfer in about a month or so if he still really wants his #1. His opinion was that roughly 7 out of 10 transfer requests are approved, so this was all good news and we have much to be thankful for.

Good luck to all!

Too late to change information?

I have been reading the posts advising that applicants who have not yet received notice of scholarship award should update their application information with any new info (SAT/ACT scores, new accomplishments, etc.) I was under the impression that once your file has been reviewed by the board and given a numeric score for placement on the OML, there is no change made to that score. So, is there any point to updating application info, or is it too late?

Definitely update if you have items that will improve your score. Such as test scores and big achievments (sports, leadership)

Some kids apply in July and then during the school year are voted into class office, get their Eagle, move up from JV to Varsity... etc. ALWAYS send in information via Fax and Courrier to improve your chances.

Lets put it this way......it doesn't hurt!

I have an email from Cadet Command that states just this same thing. They tried to get information changed for my son in December due to a mess up and both an advisor and PMS called and the answer was no updates once a score is assigned unless it's due to ACT or SAT scores going up.

Son sent in updated resumes to all ROTC prgrams...BUT that was in the fall, when it probably wasn't so crazy.

AFROTC said to not rely on electronic submission of test scores. Fax copy of official scores as soon as you get them.

Message Change

My son has applied for a four year scholarship. The portal changed today to contact DODMERB. After calling them directly, I was told a packet should be sent in the next 10 days or so to complete and to schedule a physical.

My son is planning on attending Carson-Newman. He plans to major in Veterinary medicine. After reading some of the posts we are more hopeful his dreams and wishes will be fullfilled.

Hmmmm....PMS callled us at home and advised us to update if we could. We did, he re-ran duaghters app and said score went up. Ten days later she had the scholarship offer :thumb: It may have come anyway but we'll never know.

i was not awarded a scholarship in the January board, however i called my number one school and they said that they have zero slots for the March review board. Will this change? is there a chance more slots will be avaiable?

Awesome - congratulations!! Glad to see a few more are getting good news today.

Just wondering...did anyone's status who just changed DoDMERB in the past few days change to their list of schools yet?
