DS received 4 yr scholarship. Question is does he need to check box and send in acceptance before CC will request the medical exam or initate a waiver review? He was a canidate for an SA so he has already had his exam and will be needing a waiver for food allergies when he was 4 years old. Thanks in advance for your input.

I don't believe they will request the medical review until he accepts the scholarship, but will defer to others more knowledgeable than I. I'm wondering though why it matters? Let's assume they will initiate it. But the ways things move in the military they request the exam 6 weeks from now. Aren't you pass the acceptance deadline then? Keeping in mind that an acceptance at this point is not binding, is there some other purpose behind your question? Just trying to be helpful.

No reason he has not sent in the acceptance just bogged down with school projects. I'm sure he will send today or tomorrow. Thanks for your input.

I am with kinnem.

No offense, I don't know the AROTC acceptance procedure, but AFROTC is 10 seconds. Sign your name, school, major...stick the stamp on the envelope...DONE!

If you know he has a food allergy since 4, you need to get moving. DoDMMERB will send him to their docs, not yours. They will follow DoD medical requirements, and the branch will waive.

Waivers can take 6 days, 6 weeks or 6 months.

If the school starts August 8th, your DoDMERB exam is March 1st, waiver takes 6 months it can be a huge issue if:

~ ROTC scholarship is needed and matriculation deadline is April 15th
~ Not needed, but they DQ him in Aug. 2 weeks after ROTC started

All he can do now is:
~ Get the DoDMERB exam done ASAP
~ Train for the PFT. Most cadets see their PFA score drop compared to their PFT score, typically it is due to form.

Fail the PFT, pass DoDMERB equates to no scholarship until they pass. No stipend, no book allowance.

Just an fyi. My DS also received a 4 year scholarship. He has applied to the SA's as well and his medical is done. He scanned and emailed his acceptance on Tuesday. The Dodmerb website already shows Army ROTC medical under review so process is moving along. I would get the acceptance in asap since your DS needs a waiver. Says you can fax scan, or mail acceptance letter. Not sure if this is any help. Good luck.

Thank you all for your replies. DS now realizes the sense of urgency on this matter and will get the acceptance in ASAP. Great forum!!!!:thumb:
