My daughter had her B&G interview on October 21, 2013. Went great. But, he has not submitted his report to Admissions.

Since, she has received her LOA and Presidential Nomination. She has emailed him - no reponse. Called him and the # is out of service. She has left a voice message with her Admissions Officer.

WTH?

Who knows why? Hell, maybe, god forbid, he or she died? You can't assume anything. Nevertheless these are volunteers and have lives beyond being a BGO. Any one of a number of business or family emergencies could have intervened. Or maybe its nothing at all. In any case, with an LOA in hand, your daughter has nothing to worry about (except a nom) and this is of minor consequence.

While an loa is not based on the interview and such, it is still required to be done(Correct me please if I'm wrong). So I would contact your local admissions officer to try and find out what's up or if you can be put in touch with another BGO. Goodluck, hopefully well be classmates.

Contact your Area Coordinator (who "supervises" the BGOs, at least administratively). He/she will be able to help you.

Also, interviews are typically required. However, if one is not done, or submitted, USNA will ultimately still process the application.

Agreed with usna1985. Call Area Coordinator. He/She can assign a different BGO or attempt to contact the original BGO. If that fails, you can call USNA BGO Administration office at USNA. The LOA and Presidential NOM. is a very good indicator that your Candidate is in good standing. Don't freak, it's all good at this point.

It took my BGO over a month to submit the recommendation on CIS after my interview.

Either he forgot, or he submitted it incorrectly and was unaware, or any number of other things. It'll be handled. And once it is, your appointment will be on its way (if USPS doesn't lose it somewhere). No worries.

Thanks everyone.

The BGO is a very nice man and I hope something didn't happen with him.

BGO Interview

Some BGOs wait until they have a handful of interviews done so they can compare or rank the candidates based upon the interviews. I know of one BGO who tries to schedule 4 or 5 interviews in the same two week period so he han more easily determine who the "above average" candidates were. However, it is now a month since the interview. This needs to be followed up by the Area Coordinator or by USNA Admissions. I usually submit my interviews the day after they happen.

My daughter emailed her AO and he said he has also emailed the BGO and that if we do not hear anything in a week to contact him again.

When my DS received his LOA, under the "You must complete the following..." section, only Nomination and Medical Qualification were checked, the BGO Interview was not. And although he had his interview in July, the BGO interview never did show as completed on his application... I'm thinking his squad leader review from summer seminar trumped the BGO interview. He is currently a 3/C...

Oh geez. I feel like an idiot. Her BGO emailed her just now and he had eye surgery, therefore, unable to read much. He is checking on the status.

Did I mention I feel like an idiot?

LMAO. Glad it turned out to be something innocent and not something too major for the BGO. I certainly understand being concerned though and you were correct to pursue it. Might have been smart for the BGO to email everyone prior to the surgery just to let them know he might be unavailable for a while. But hindsight is 20-20.

It is funny...we get tunnel vision going through this.

The ONLY thing not in are her medical results. We know she passed with flying colors - no issues, 20/15 vision. I guess DODMERBs sent back her stuff to DODMETS because a form was missing - some administrative silliness.

The interviews with our Congresswoman are Dec 7. she has a Pres Nom, BUT, since we do not have the Appointment, she is going. Are we right in our assumption?

You are correct to pursue every possible nomination available. It gives her more slates to compete on and increases her chances of appointment.

I would add you folks give me and my wit far too much credit. I didn't even realize the irony of that remark about hindsight. Glad y'all pointed it out though. It is pretty good!
