BOLC dates?

Both sad and happy to see them move on and follow their dreams. :( June 12 FA bolc for my daughter

Congrats on your son completing IBOLC. Are you going to the graduation? My son completed IBOLC a few years ago. It was a nice ceremony where a family member can put the blue infantry cord around their soldier's shoulder. They had a nice reception afterwards at a country club.

The story of the Infantry Blue Cord goes back to the Mexican War. American officers wore cords of rope around their shoulder. Apparantly some of the Mexican Generals threatened to hang any officers caught. The enlisted men, as a show of support, put a cord of rope around their shoulders as they went to battle.

Best wishes for Ranger Assessment and School.

Thank you. Yes we are going up for the graduation and really looking forward to it.

Thanks for the info on the blue cord. I didn't know that.

I'm not sure why they are having them go to the RTAC. They had heard rumblings that they all have to go. But, I guess it will get him prepared a tiny bit for Ranger school and that's not a bad thing.

I agree, any training is good. Enjoy your time with your son next week!

The offer stands for you as well. If you have any questions or need anything, I'm here.

Everyone in my Battalion has received their BOLC dates except for the Medical Service cadets (me). Has anyone else that branched Medical Service received their dates yet or know when they will be released?

I can only say that my DS's friend reports to San Antonio on the 29th Aug. Hope your wait is not too long.

Every month has a "R" in it. Oysters and low country cooking. DW and I are ready to visit!

I branched AD Medical Service and I am waiting on my BOLC date as well. I assumed I was a special case since I had to extend my graduation date from DEC 14 to MAY 15. I guess it never changed at cadet command because last month I found out I had a BOLC report date of JAN 15. :eek3: I called my branch manager and she said they were tracking I didn't graduate and I should have my BOLC date by end of March or sometime in April. On ATRRS you can check for BOLC dates and that will give you a rough estimate on when you can expect to leave. I believe the earliest BOLC for MS is in mid July.

Thanks for the insight! Hopefully they give them to us soon. I'm getting jealous of everyone else who can begin planning their life out.

Where you from cb. If you are looking for Oysters and seafood in Ft. Gordon area you better head to Captain D's :) Off course if you come from far you could make the 2-3 hr drive to the coast.
Hilton Head 2.75 hrs
Beaufort SC 2.5 hrs
Charleston SC 2.5 hrs
Savanah Ga. 2.25 hrs

Now watching Golf at The Masters, at the Augusta National, is a slight possibility. Look for the lottery for the practice round tickets on-line. The tournament tickets have a waiting list decades long and are hard to come by and scalp for thousands. You could possibly get a practice round ticket or two if you are lucky. Again look for the on-line lottery and there is a start and deadline to the lottery. Those scalp for about $350 each.

I live 30 miles or so up the road on the SC side. The border of SC and Ga is practically one reservoir after the other. Lots of opportunity for water sports etc. The base area is busy and like all towns parts of Augusta are a little well you know. But overall the CSRA (Central Savannah River Area) is a nice place with plenty to do..... unlike what I hear about Lawton OK where DS is headed :)

Lawton is an excellent place to live...if you enjoy high property crime, STD's, poor scenery, terrible roads, deadbeats, drugs, alcohol abuse, gunshots, drive by's, and having to wear your IBA to Wal Mart. If that's your style, this place will be heaven lol

Hey, as long as there's a mud hole and my truck has four wheel drive.....I can keep entertained for a while.

Clueless, thanks for the lay of the land. I guess DS will just have to drive couple of hours to meet us.

We live in Nebraska, where people drive 2.5 hrs. for take out pizza and the state tree is a telephone pole. Don't get me wrong. This is a fabulous place to live and moving here from Chicago was the best decision we ever made.

However, I grew up in Tennessee surrounded by TVA lakes. My brother-in-law and I joke that Tennessee is just like Nebraska except for the water, trees and mountains. Growing up, all our vacation and my summer camp time was spent somewhere on the coast between Va Beach and St. Simon's. We've taken our kids down there as much as possible and it will always be the spot that pulls at my heartstrings and my stomach. I know Captain D's well. It started in Nashville.

Hope your DS is able to put everything in perspective. I wish him the best of luck!

So Bull, are you being paid by the Chamber of Commerce?

Let me know if you find out your BOLC date, I have a feeling we'll be in the same phase 1 class.

The dates aren't set in stone - just made arrangements to help drive a car out to Ft Sill only to find dates changed to June 3
