Me and my parents are attending one of the campus tours in November too! We’re heading to Colorado all the way from Baltimore... I’m beyond excited to see the academy!

is that the FVE in November?

No, just a regular tour. My DS is not a minority in any single way and I think FVE is to encourage diversity and female participation. It's kinda nice that they are looking for more representation of everyone- so it's not just a campus filled with male Wonder Bread, lol!

Excited for both of our families! I hope you have a great trip! We are only coming from the Pacific Northwest- so not quite as far. It was tough deciding if we were going to tour USAFA or USCGA- having family near Denver made the trip way more affordable, lol!

My DS is a current Doolie and we were able to visit the summer before his senior year of high school. Enjoy your tours! Take lots of pictures! You never know when a "this was last year, this is this year" photo op might be cool to have for future use. It's a beautiful place to visit!

Bring a water bottle. Hydration helps dealing with the altitude. DD drank a liter a day.

Super smart idea! We are coming from sea level- something I hadn't considered! Thanks for the hint! Less than 2 weeks- I am so excited!

We are originally from MT- I can probably handle the cold, lol! PLUS my sister-in-law is there so if I need to borrow more, I am set.

If you are from Montana, then the climate and Mountains should be no stranger. Our DD fell in Love with Colorado. I think half of it was that the area reminded her of home. Enjoy your trip!

UPDATE: Mind officially blown! We toured on 11/7 (anybody else tour that day? If so, "HI!")

The weather was extra miserable- freezing rain, totally socked in- if I didn't know the place was surrounded by the beautiful Rocky Mountains, I would have guessed the campus was on the flat plains, lol!

The first part of the tour two young representatives gave us the rundown (many of the same videos on the website) and personal experiences. As a mom I felt much more at ease with my DS' decision to apply. Spectacular presentation.

The second part of the tour a young man from NJ gave us the tour of the campus and an insight into daily life. We got to see so much of the campus and how all of it all works.

I am absolutely thrilled that we had the time to get to visit the campus- if you are on the fence about a campus tour, hop off that fence pronto! Get you a flight to The Springs and go see it all!

I toured on the 9th and I have to agree, my mind was blown too! If anyone deciding about heading to Colorado Springs for a tour, it is definitely worth your time and money! The tour guide gave us an awesome idea of cadet life. It also gave me the opportunity to talk to an admissions counselor in person. So, definitely head out there if you can!

Are you a cadet? Just nosy! My DS was as impressed by the cadets we saw (and the moments of levity shown) that he just fell even in love with the place more!

No problem, I don't hide it on this forum that I am a 3rd class cadet (sophomore) at the Academy. I'm glad all your interactions with cadets were good! I know that some of us can be kind of awkward haha. If you have any follow up questions from your tour let me know!

I know it's been a year since this post, but I found it through the search engine. DS and I are heading for our first tour of the campus in two weeks. He is a junior right now and extremely excited for the trip. We are staying at the FamCamp and have access to a Jeep and bikes. Water a plenty and layers of clothing are good advice. Any additional suggestions would be more than welcomed. Thanks, in advance, for your advice.

"Me and my parents."

Please. Don't do that.
