Can you apply to NAPS separately and still get into the Academy afterwards?

I've heard that most people who attend NAPS get into the Naval Academy. Is it possible to apply for NAPS and then just transfer to USNA, or is NAPS by invitation only?

From what I've heard and at the other SA's, USNA will send someone to NAPS if they think someone needs to grow a bit so they will then be successful at USNA. So, when you apply for USNA they will automatically look at you for NAPS, too.

It is not possible to apply to NAPS. When you apply to USNA, your application is automatically considered for NAPS if you don't get in.

It's worth noting that a lot of the NAPS spots go to prior-enlisted applicants or varsity athletes who need some help preparing for the academic rigors of the academy.

In the event you get the chance to go to NAPS--- TAKE IT! It's a great opportunity.

ABCDE . . . I suggest you read the usna.edu website under "Admissions." A lot of your questions are answered there. There are also stickies at the top of this forum that provide a lot of good info. Finally, try searching this forum -- over the 10+ years this site has been in existence, a LOT of questions have been asked and answered. Try those options then see what questions you still have.
