Candidate File Qualified but I have a Principal Nom??

The wording we received is a bit different. This was after we received the nomination and the 3Q letter.

Maybe different RCs have different letter templates to respond with.

Quoted:

Congratulations! We have received all your application information and the Admissions Committee has qualified your file. You are exactly the type of outstanding candidate the United States Military Academy is seeking.

You received a Letter of Assurance based on the overwhelming strength of your file. West Point will begin tendering most appointments at the end of February 2024 and yours will be in the first wave of packets mailed out at that time.
The different wording is probably because you have a LOA, I only have a pnom.

Only a pnom?!?
Well I have a presidential and ROTCJ nomination as well, but from what I've been told that doesn't really matter. Also, since I received a pnom from my rep the senators will not give me one of their nominations.

I'm in the Far West Region!
I am also located in the far west region and for reference received my appointment one week after my file was deemed qualified, but with the service academies who really knows what goes on behind the closed doors of the admissions process.

Did you have your 7th semester transcripts in? I'm wondering if I need to have those inputted before I can receive an appointment. My semester does not end until the end of this month. :/

I did not. I'm not really sure what 7th semester transcripts contribute to a candidate file, but I assume since that I did not have them in that they are not necessary for somebody to receive their appointment to the USMA.

Is this situation unique to West Point, or does this NWL also happen with USNA?
Terminology is slightly different but USNA does exactly the same thing - all with nominations plus Academic/Medical and Physical Qual are under consideration on a slate by slate basis. Once the slate winners are determined, the remainder (equivalent to NWL) are available and considered for slots as "Additonal Appointees"

Does this mean your CFA needs to reach a certain standard, or that it technically just needs to pass? I have Pnom for usna but I just got mild shin splints and am a bit worried it may affect my run time later next week.
Advil / aspirin up and do that CFA soon. Isn't the deadline the 31???

Biofreeze shins prior and, if you haven’t, grab a pair of shin/calf compression sleeves. They make a world of difference!

USNA is different. USNA is not required to offer appointment to fully qualified Principal Nominee, but usually does.

So the NWL is not ‘being waitlisted’ it is where the qualified people go….it is the best place to be. With your P Nom you shouldn’t be there for long but they might be saving up for a big wave or not. But you should be ok. They have given you an expected notification dates.

I wonder if this protocol is dependant upon region.

I’m in the South East and earlier this week I met my regional commander and he told me I have an Pnom. He seemed to convey that as soon as my redone cfa videos get approved the appointment would immediately follow.
