Hello, I’m taking my CFA for my USAFA application in about two weeks! However, I’m extremely nervous because I know it is pass/fail. I do not meet the average scores on some of the physical tests but on others I exceed it. My question is that what qualifies you to fail your CFA? I am dreading even thinking about failing it because I have already come so far in the application process.

You still have time. I know USAFA is a rolling application deadline. If you have time, pause and train.

Isolate the portions you are at risk and train for those.

Keep training but if you are curious you can search here for scores that have passed in the past. It is certainly possible to pass with below average scores. Far below average? probably not. USAFA needs to know you can handle things physically as it is a demanding program.

I can't tell you with 100% accuracy whether or not you'll pass but...if you PM me your scores, I will give you my OPINION based on my ALO experiences.

But...what others have said above is spot-on!!

When is the CFA deadline? I believe you have plenty of time to train and get to where you think you need to be. If you think you’re not ready don’t rush it!

It depends on the academy and I'm sure what event as well. We have determined if your life depended on DS throwing a BB on his knees you will die...lol. But seriously abysmal. That being said AF and Navy accepted scores with a BB score lower than what West Point and Merchant Marine would accept. For reference.

AF and Navy accepted
BB 43ft
Pull ups 15
Shuttle 9.9
Sit ups 85
Push ups 75
Mile 5:51

USMMA and West Point passed him with 51ft. The other scores were basically the same. So although there are calculators out there that will lead you to believe you need to be over 40ft for the BB throw that is only true for some and DS needed to be above 50 for WP and USMMA.
DS is a swimmer so not really any ball throwing skills sadly. But he is a rockstar for USCGA's PFE.

Is the CFA deadline when my application is due or January 31? My portal says my application is due November 1 but I thought everything was due on January 31?

Thank you. Why does the website say application is due January 31 but for me it's November 1?
It depends on when you started your preliminary application. The earlier you started and became a candidate then the earlier your due date. First due date I've seen is 1 November. My daughter's is the same as yours.

As a "general" rule...due dates are set as described above. The earlier you became a candidate, the earlier USAFA will expect you to complete the application process. This is good as you'll be "reviewed" a bit more often than later applicants.

Deadlines are usually HARD AND FAST so please don't mess with them!!! Get everything ins as soon as you can. Things you have no control over, like DODMERB exams, ALO Evaluations...don't worry about them re: deadlines. Everything else, if you have a date, consider it an absolute!
