CFA VIDEO DILEMMA

Hi guys, I almost completed my application and received two nominations, the last thing missing is one video, I did my CFA with these scores:

BB throw 74 ft
Pull-ups 6
Shuttle run 8.6
Sit-Ups 83
One Mile run 6:29

USMA told me to retake only the push-ups video, the dilemma is that I recorded two videos, one where I performed 40 reps that are clearly visible, and one where I did 44 reps but it's not clear if they are parallel to the ground because of the camera angle. For personal reasons I will not be able to retake the video again, which video I should submit in your opinion? Are these scores passing?

Just one opinion, but I would submit the higher and IF they request another that is clear, you could either submit the lower one or retake should your situation allow.

Which video did you submit already? Why would you consider submitting a video that doesn’t provide the view you know they are looking for? Both 40 and 44 are very low, but probably passing. If you can’t redo the video, submit the compliant one and move on.

I would normally think that 40 or 45 was low but with the fine toothed comb that they are analyzing the pushups and pullups with, the averages are going to be going down. These aren't your pre video averages any more. I'm not saying anyone was gaming the process before, but 45 slow, methodical pushups in accordance to what they are asking for is a lot harder than slamming out 75 pushups that most people would look at and think are perfectly fine.

If you know that one video will not show the pushups to standard, then you would be foolish to submit it. WP could just DQ you if they are not satisfied with the video. No guaranty that you'll get another shot at a video if you submit 2 that are not to standards. Whatever your personal reasons for not redoing the video, you might want to reconsider them. If injury is the issue, you definitely want to submit the compliant video. 40 push-ups is probably a pass - but not a good score. 44 is not sufficiently better to justify submitting a video you know is not compliant.

I didn't submit any video yet, I'm still waiting to make the decision.

USMA requires a video to verify that every push-up is done according to spec. So I see no dilemma here. Send the one that fits their criteria, not the one that doesn’t.

You said USMA told you to re-take the push up video only. Why would you have to re-take the video if you never submitted on in the first place? Your score is your score. Don’t try to game the system.

I already did the Push-ups and sent the video before, I am talking about "re-submitting" not submitting a video :)
