My son is the original poster. He did not receive a scholarship from the first board.

How did your son receive the news and what state do you live in? My son also applied for the early board but there has been no news here in Colorado.

there are plenty of chances to make it through future boards. last year my DS submitted his application Jan 1 and was accepted in the March board. he's now a part of that great NROTC battalion at Georgia Tech. its just a long wait.....

How did your son find out and what state are you in?

My son received an email from the local Officer Selection Officer who interviewed him and turned in his application packet. An attachment in the more personalized email was a long, form official letter from the Navy explaining other options to pursue. However, the email said his application was automatically going on to the regular Board. He was told he would hear "around Christmas-time" but I have seen on this forum that some have heard in January? We are in the Southeast.

There are six Marine Corps districts that administer the NROTC-MO selection program for HQMC. Each has an "Early Board" (normally conducted mid-November) and a "Regular Board" (normally conducted mid-February). Notifications follow the results of each board. Candidates not successful on the early board may get reviewed/ selected on the regular board.

he was notified in the portal first then email i believe. then a letter came in the mail. we had issues with the local recruiter losing some parts of his application and it was never submitted so we had a few last minute calls and fed ex deliveries and voila the NROTC office magically found everything at the last minute. if his principal/counselor had not pushed he never would have received the scholarship.
