Has anyone had experience changing their flights for LDAC or LTC before? I have some friends that go to University of Washington so I want to push my flight back a day or two.
Any thoughts?

You will need to talk with your HR person at your school. The ticket change will need to be approved before any changes can be made. If the new ticket does not cost more then the original then there is a chance that it will be approved. All depends on how accommodating your HR person is and how willing those that make the approvals are.

Doubtful, plus someone needs to be accountable when you are signed out of LDAC to make sure you get home. The only time I saw people getting approved to leave was if their family was there. Believe it or not a lot of cadets used to goof off or get drunk and miss their flight home. You are essentially babysat until you get on that flight home.

Unfortunately you are at training not a sidebar vacation. I live less than an hour away and they wouldn't even let me go home for a few hours before my flight to CTLT

How are arrangements made to get permission to pick up a cadet? I assume a cadet takes care of that once at LDAC. We're planning to pick up our daughter after LDAC graduation.

There will probably be an LT sitting at a table near the parade field with a sign out roster. If you sign her out you are good to go. My memory is foggy regarding if you inform cadre prior to graduation if you are leaving with parents or not.

This is assuming she has no follow on training.

Hmmm, ok. My HR person said she doesn't have anything to do with it specifically.

Is the person "checking you out" required to be family? I have family friends that live up there as well. Thanks for all the help.

We actually lost a cadet after last year's LDAC for getting smashed at SEATAC

Check your paperwork. My son's paper says that he had to put in for the change before they bought the tickets and it had to be a family member that picked you up.

Last year your parents/guardians came and got you after graduation or you left for the airport. If your flight left after midnight of graduation day, you have to stay in the holdover barracks at LDAC. We had a cadet who's flight left at 12:01 and they made him stay, while a cadet who's flight left at 11:59 could leave directly to the airport.

If I remember correctly, during in-processing they'll ask if anyone's parents will be picking them up after graduation. You need a letter of some sort sent to LDAC HRA to confirm it.

This is from the Warrior Forge site.

Post-Graduation Visitation and Travel

Cadets may be released to immediate family members (father, mother, brother, sister, spouse, or others designated in loco parentis) at the conclusion of the graduation ceremony only if the Cadet has received prior authorization. Cadets normally initiate the request for a post-graduation travel change at the beginning of the training cycle and are normally notified of approval by Day 16. Cadets may request a post-graduation travel change at any time, including the day of graduation. Under no circumstances should a Cadet or Cadet’s family initiate a travel change without the approval of the Commandant of Cadets. Commissionees will be afforded the same transportation to SeaTac Airport as other Warrior Forge graduates if they desire.
