Class of 2016-Mailbox Stalkers Club

Well,congrats usafa1994!

No more stalking for me! I just got the call from my rep. Good luck everyone!!!

Wonderful news for you! No good mail here and no phone calls either. Looks like we will be stalking for another weekend. :frown:

Congrats to everyone who has already received an appointment!!!! :thumb: SMNE today again. Our Congressman called to inform us when my DS received his nomination in December, so we were assuming he would call about an appointment offer. We've heard nothing. No calls, No letters, No flowers- But the good news is....... we live to stalk another day!!

Dear usmcparent

Dear usmcparent, I am so sorry about your father-in-law's passing and that he did not have the joy of hearing of your son's appointment. I imagine it is bittersweet for you all. That was how I felt last year when my Dad died before my son was appointed. Some days felt like I had lost them both, but now it feels like Grandpa is there with my son, helping him along. Newly recognized, he is proudly wearing gold prop and wings, thanks to his Grandpa's service in the Army Air Corp. Congratulations on your son's appointment. He couldn't have a better Guardian Angel!

And yorkiemom, in sure you will hear good news soon!!! Don't let it get to you! The wait will be well worth it!

The anxiety of "letting go" started for me when he was about 8... He's always been that sweet, amazing, mature kid from the get go. His dream then was to go to MIT - funny thing is, now he can go to MIT - but for some reason is choosing Syracuse instead.

This process is making me Bi-Polar - I go from "he's getting in" to "he's not getting in", daily, sometimes hourly. I seriously feel the need to be medicated.

Hearing all your good news, is FANTASTIC!!! But it's also gut-wrenching, since my DS is hearing nothing. He called MOC rep today, she said "she did not expect anymore appointments" (yes, I knew that MOC already had an athlete charged back in Feb). This is not good... DS said "it's OK mom, next year". Really, really? I have to do this again next year? Get the padded room, medication, and straight jacket ready now.

Oh and that Moscato from Trader Joe's last night was FANTASTIC... (only one glass I swear!) I was asleep by 9:45... simply couldn't handle anymore brainwaves for the day.

You called your MOC??? I thought you weren't suppose to do that.....

From what my ALO told me they have still sent out only about half of the acceptances. Hope that helps a little I know its hard to wait. Doubt was starting to creep in. Fight it!

This is reassuring for those like me... Still waiting! *nervous*

I agree and feel for you and your wife in this moment. Last night after DS got the call, he called his grandma (DH's mom) and she came to meet us for a quick celebration dinner at a local restaurant. DH's dad had passed away 4 years ago. DS is the first grandson and you know, as we sat there, we talked about how proud he would be at this moment and how much it would have meant to him to be a part of this. Thankfully, my dad (who was USAF) is here and DS was able to call and share the good news with him last night. He is very proud.

I definitely believe the military parents and grandparents, whether they are here to enjoy this or have left us are still very much a part of our DSs and DDs. I'm sure that influence will serve them well at USAFA.

Okay... so I read on the appointment thread that a self prep at NWP got an appointment (which is what I will do if USAFA direct appointment and USAFAPS doesn't come through) today. So a self prepster found out before a falcon? Why would this happen?

The two NWP self-preps that got their appointments are recruited athletes.

Falcons are the last to find out. Always. Don't ask me why! Self preps will 99% of the time know before a Falcon. The only time this may be different is if the self prep is waitlisted or there are unusual circumstances. Basically, we're hoping to hear by May 1st... hoping!

Congratulations

Congratulations to the new appointees on this thread today !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

:jump1::jump1::jump1::jump1::jump1:

Be sure to update the list on the Official USAFA Class of 2016 Appointment thread.

Congratulations to ALL of the new appointees!

It is so wonderful to go to this site and see such wonderful news posted today and yesterday. I am so happy for all of the new appointees and their families. There is so much to celebrate and such excitement ahead...
Congratulations to every one of you. We still pray for those waiting...we understand the agony of the wait, and how long each day becomes when you still don't have the news you want so desperately to hear. Hopefully, we will continue to see GREAT NEWS posted daily until all of you have your BFE's.
I am so encouraged to know that my son will be studying, working, training and practicing alongside such outstanding young men and women. I don't think it would be possible to ask for more as a parent. My DS will be blessed to be in the same classes with all of you. THANK YOU for your dedication to your country and to the USAFA.:thumb::thumb::thumb:

Falcons are the last to find out. Always.

While it does appear that Falcons are to be among the last to hear this year, it has not always been this way. Last year Falcons heard at the end of February or beginning of March. The only thing that never changes is change . . .

Thank you annie3 and usafa2012mom. My father-in-law was very proud of the boy and very influential to his upbringing. He was at our house every night for dinner since '93 and weekends as well. He graduated from Vandy after WWII with a degree in Chemistry. Imagine where our 2 children's interests lie. The three would sit around the dinner table and carry on about the science behind chemistry...DW and I were always at a loss.
We have already experienced the college go away when DD went to Auburn (4hrs away) and DW cried every night for about 6 weeks. After that it was a fun four years and a lot of memories, especially football weekends and feeding all the kids at the tailgate. DD majored in Chemistry.

This one is going to be real different and the boy will be ~25hrs away, but we have laid out plans and budget to make trips for June 28, Aug 4 (Acceptance Day) and Parents' Weekend. The boy is prepared for this journey as a result of the influence that a lot people had on the boy.

Priority now is DW. She is currently in training now that the boy is in Europe and we have no contact with him. This is already a big step for her to accept. I wish I could send him away for a few more isolated trips before June 28.

Thanks to all for the congrats and praying is still in order for all other hopefuls.
