Class of 2016-Mailbox Stalkers Club

we have laid out plans and budget to make trips for June 28, Aug 4 (Acceptance Day) and Parents' Weekend.

Last week my husband found out he has a conference in Colorado Springs Aug. 1-2. I am praying this is part of a "master plan" to get us there. But, we are still waiting and every minute that goes by makes the wait harder. I am so happy for everyone who has gotten the word. You are all amazing young men and women and USAFA is lucky to have you.

I wish you all the best and will be praying that the conference is a sign/message from the Almighty.

Since Jan this year I have been in training and changed my diet (what I eat and how much) more for my health, but also in anticipation of receiving the news from USAFA. My first goal is to get back into my uniform (modified blues) that I have not put on since '93 for Acceptance Day.

The next goal is to maintain the condition needed to wear full dress blues in 2016 and have the honor of rendering the well deserved salute to DS and any/all of your DDs and DSs that will take a salute from an old jarhead.

Interesting....we too have made several changes to our diet and overall health the past couple of months--I likened it to nesting before babies are born. Maybe it is because we know he is leaving the nest and we are just preparing ourselves for the significant change. I don't know but no matter what, we are both getting ourselves healthier and that is a good thing! Keep up the good work and I hope we are there celebrating with you on A-Day and at graduation. In the meantime I stalk....it's probably a good thing I am taking a group of Boy Scouts to sell candy bars later today--it will keep my mind off the phone but DS will be here just in case.....(he wasn't going anyway).

LMAO!

DS will commission this yr. and Bullet (ret O5) will have the honor of administering the oath to him. He is retired and hasn't worn his blues in 2 yrs., so now it is about making sure he can still fit in them!

I of course will make sure he can fit in it because I will not be happy if we have to spend a few hundred to buy a new set of blues for him to wear for a couple of hours! :shake:

Believe it or not the yrs will fly by faster than a blink of an eye. I have to say DS commissioning will be emotional, but seeing him give his 1st salute to his father will be the tear jerker to me. Something about a son and a father.

I know all of you are looking at that appointment list growing, and seeing so many added on from this week may be disheartening, but remember always, they will be commissioned in 16 if they want it.

Remember, AF in the AD world does not care the source, they will all go AD!

JMPO, as a spouse of an ADAF flier and a Mom, fate has a way. You will need to look deep inside of yourself and believe when the chips are down that it will work itself out. You need to believe when the chips are up that it can change in a moment. You need to accept that no matter what you do, this is their path.

I am not saying a higher being, I am saying you just BELIEVE. The sooner you find that peace, the sooner you will embrace all of the positives and forget about any negative.

Sundays

Have Sundays become anyone else's leat favorite day of the week? Lol no mail on Sundays which means no chance of news :-( Also on an unrelated note does anyone mind defining some of the common acronyms used on this feed, even though I probably should know what they mean by now. :)

LOL, usmcparent! I just read your post to my DH who retired from USAF in '02. Told him it should be his new goal as well! Since he can't remember when the last time he wore his Class A, it probably works out to a few years after you. The flight suits he wore were far more forgiving the 'years and mileage' :shake: but what a great idea!

I am getting SO anxious!!!! Since next monday marks the last week of March I expect to find out soon!!!!!

I am a minnesotan, and I have heard NOTHING! A guy I know in minnesota did get his appointment, he was the principal nom though...uff da

Oh ya, well at least SOMEONE has heard SOMETHING! What district are you? My Congress member doesn't do principle noms, so I haven't heard anything other than my friend who got a LOA to WP in October.

I am district 5, Congressman Ellison does not do Principle noms either. I might have gotten a call from him (doubt it though since no one from minnesota has heard) but my phone has been out of commission for the past week and wont be running until later.

Also, they give MOCs several days to notify appointees. I found out on a tuesday I got into WP, and then on Thursday my MOC called me. It depends on their schedule and some don't call at all.

The longer we go without hearing anything from our MOC, the more concerned I am becoming. I know it has been said to be proud of making it this far, but anticipating dealing with the heartbreak doesn't make it any easier. I know all MOC's don't call, but ours has been really good about direct communication thus far and that is what is making this week of notification for MOC's even more difficult.

Stalking the mailbox is going to be one of dread next week if we receive no call. Praying for my DD and all others who have still heard nothing.

GAdad,

Feeling your pain and sharing your concern...we haven't heard anything in my part of the state either. I will say a prayer for your DD.

Uhhhh... I had a dream today that I got a call from my MOC about an appointment... then I woke up... So sooooo frustrating!

We are feeling the same way about not receiving a call.... our MOC has been great about contact as well, so hearing nothing is not a promising feeling for our DS either. :frown:

Don't lose heart, you guys. From what my daughter heard, USAFA's not anywhere near done giving out appointments. We're waiting with you and hoping and praying on your behalf!
