Class of 2016-Mailbox Stalkers Club

Okay, my bad. Truce, peace, whatever.
The fact is, we are both in the same boat, and we should both just accept Plan B now (not dejected, just honest right now).

Put my acceptance letter for plan B in the mail yesterday. One step ahead of you. :thumb: I'm disappointed just as much as you are, but I definitely plan on reapplying next year. (Unless I get too settled like Pima has suggested some do. Plan on seeing me though.)

So that really is it, then? People (Not just you, LFry) don't see any more hope for this year? If I have "Candidate" on the portal, I'm finished?
BTW, I called my MOC yesterday, and she said that from what she could see, my application hadn't even been processes yet.

Of course I see hope, and I haven't given up the hope that I have. The thing is, with chances being low, and my college requiring a response by tomorrow, I had no choice. If I am accepted to USAFA, they are understanding and will allow me to withdraw from their college.

Oh, OK. Now that that's settled, how much hope is there left? :p
Rather, what is the general consensus (I'm aware that no one is certain) concerning appointments? Are they done? Is there one more whole wave (which would explain my file not even being processed yet)? What do we think?
(Open question, not just LFry

We have no way of knowing whether or not we will receive an offer of appointment or not until we get a TWE. If what you say about your application is true, you should call your academy counselor.

Eh, I would, but I really don't want to disturb my counsellor for such a petty worry. I can wait, I just really don't want to ;P

As several of the Long Term stalkers, moderators, and others have posted, several times, DO proceed with plan B. Put down the deposit, start looking for housing (if necessary). Get busy on it. There's still a remote chance that more appointments will come out. If people decline their appointment, any other "replacement" appointments will come out AFTER the deadline for acceptance has passed for those already offered appointments. If you haven't proceeded with Plan B by now you're already behind! IF you do get the offer of appointment in late April or May, and a very few probably will, you can still stop work on plan B (although you may lose some deposits).

I'm only saying all this because I have great respect for the young men and women who have such awesome qualities to offer in the service of our nation, whether in uniform or not. So PLEASE, don't let the lack of an appointment to USAFA stop you from your dreams. You can still earn a commission after 4 years of civie college, if you choose. Or you can serve our nation in civilian jobs. Your qualities are rare or USAFA wouldn't consider you candidates. So get over it, and get moving. Our country needs each and every one of you!

Today is Friday, that means by tomorrow you will see how much the USAFA appointed thread bumps.

You should never ever give up hope until I day. Things happen.

You should move on like LFry and start Plan B.

Two different things.

Always remember what your "ABSOLUTE" goal is for your life.

AFA or commissioning?

If it is both you have until you are 23 to obtain it.

Well there you have it. You can suffer with the rest of us for the remaining two weeks until we find out.

In the mean time you should find something constructive to do to help keep your mind off of it. Example: I'm writing electro house music. I become so immersed in it that I hardly think about USAFA. I've literally been working on this song for six hours straight lol.

Edit: And take Profsparrow and Pima's advice about plan B.

Same as my DS, i mail his CGA acceptance letter today. very disappointed from AFA.

One last thought. There is no harm in sending in your acceptance to plan B. The worst that can happen is that you will lose your deposit. Cheap insurance in case things do not change between now and and the end of April. Good Luck and peace.

Thanks, man. Sorry I have been so depressing lol.
And just wondering, what software do you use for that?

If you have a Skype or something I wouldn't mind messaging for a while. Just don't want to go too off-topic here. I use FL Studio 10.

I bet he ends up liking CGA

I hope so, to be a mother, I'd happy to see my son happy, rather then what he done. to sign the sheet of the paper( CGA) wasn't easy for him, since he chasing the dream to AFA from early of his high school.

I have been viewing this site for awhile and learning so much. Thank you all for the valuable information! DS has not received anything so not looking good but we are keeping our hopes up as well as other options open. Others we know did not receive an appointment until April. No matter what happens, we have learned so much information that will help in the future for our jr high DS who has set his goals high. The quality of candidates is so impressive! Good luck to all.

LFry, looks like I'll probably be there with you reapplying next year. Received the TWE from WP yesterday and have heard nothing from AFA. It's certainly hard, and no one aside from candidates and family will ever know the feeling, but I do look forward to the opportunity to strengthen my app, get a summer job, volunteer, play some tennis over the summer, and mature. The worst part is that even though you know what's probably coming, it still hits you just as hard. However, I don't regret a thing. My interest in the academies has led to better grades, higher motivation, and the knowledge of what I want to do in the future: be an officer in the US military. I am strongly considering NWP next year. I've heard so many great things about it, and talked on the phone with Mrs. Durbeck for a while and it seems like one of the best options for me. Many prepsters on here say that they were actually glad that they didn't make it their first year applying, because they weren't ready for it at all! 2016USAFA, you should look it up, it is a great opportunity if we are not appointed this year.

I agree, especially about the motivation it's put in me. When I was a freshman in high school I was super motivated, wanting straight A's, but the last quarter of that school year i got an 89.7% in one class and my teacher didn't round it up to an A. I was so upset that I basically quit trying in school. (There were also some family issues I had to work through as well and that didn't help my attitude.) I still got high Bs and low As in school, but I just didn't put in the effort that would have led to perfect grades.

Then the end of my junior year rolled around and I had to decide what I wanted to do with my life. Family was on vacation in Estes Park, Colorado and we were discussing my college plans over dinner. Told my parents I was thinking about enlisting because I really wanted to become a veteran (Just that feeling of having served your country appeals to me) and I wanted to be able to pay for college without accumulating debt. My parents mentioned that I should think about applying to a service academy. I don't think they thought I would take them seriously, because they were pretty surprised when I approached them a month later telling them I wanted to apply. USAFA brought everything I wanted in life to one central location. Being a pilot, engineer, veteran, no college debt, ability to build leadership skills, and a career that I could count on to provide for a future military family.

If I don't get in this year you'll see me become "An aspiring basic cadet of the United States Air Force Academy Class of 2017." :thumb:
