Class of 2016-Mailbox Stalkers Club

I'm a little confused, so after April 15th are those on the waitlist considered? What about those of us that still haven't heard? Does this mean we should expect a TWE within the next couple of days?

In limbo too

 Good question Haleym. What should we expect if we have not heard anything? Where exactly does a candidate stand if they have not been waitlisted or received a TWE? I suppose they are waiting for answers from candidates who have been offered appointments. Best wishes to all who are still waiting and congratulations to those who have rec'd appointments. :thumb:

according to the FB Admissions page, if you are waitlisted, they are saying you have a pretty good chance of getting an offer after April 15 and especially May 1. If you are not waitlisted but have not yet received a TWE, my guess would be that you have a very slim chance of getting an offer for AFA, but you may qualify for Prep or Falcon scholarships, depending on different factors for each.

It really is quiet out there!

Stalking the mailbox isn't quite as fun anymore...

In the last two days - DS has received two BFE's (only from the wrong schools... ) - One was even the right color!

Found out that DS first choice Syracuse University - didn't have his application complete until (this) Monday (and when DS called to check today that everything was correct - they STILL thought it was incomplete, but now have verbal confirmation that EVERYTHING is done). Hope to get an answer soon? Considering they never told DS his application was incomplete (until DS followed up on application) - communication may not be their strong point.

Second choice - ERAU (Prescott Campus) - once that was all complete (also had problems matching all paperwork together) - they called DS to tell him all papers were done and 40 minutes later called to tell DS "Congratulations".

So at least we know that DS is going to college SOMEWHERE! :shake:

How is everyone else doing? Progress being made?

Patience,

On the FB Admissions page a poster yesterday said his ALO told him there were 94 on the wait list. Don't know how true this is, you may want to give your ALO a call to verify.

Good luck on getting a BFE!

The Admissions page just responded this:

"USAFA has not published the number on the wait list and they will not release where you fall on that wait list. They will let you know by the deadline set whether or not a slot has opened up for you. I can also tell you that the 94 number is not correct. Best of Luck in waiting to find out. I know it can be nerve wracking but making the wait list means you have a pretty good shot at still receiving an appointment to USAFA."

So the 94 definitely isn't true but it seems hopeful if you made the wait list. :thumb:

The remaining non-select letters are being mailed today and tomorrow. If you are getting one I suspect it should arrive in two or three days.

If you do get one and decide you want to apply again next year, please drop me a PM.

If you have received a TWE are you still being considered for Prep or Falcon? Timing?

haleym, Ms. Michigan, you still haven't heard anything? I guess that's a good thing. My DS and a friend (who has a West Point appointment) got their TWEs on Monday, both in Michigan. Hang in there, best wishes.

Well, its official, my DD recvd her TWE two days ago (we are OH-8) she has a presidential and congressional nom.

As soon as she finished reading the letter she signed her acceptance to USNA, so she will join her brother who is class of 2014! It will be nice to have them in the same place, so there's that. I think she was actually relieved that the decision was made for her, because she was truly torn on which she would perfer to attend if appointed to both.

Admissions is a strange bird, she was accepted to USNA in October, one of the first appointments given out, but USAFA didn't see what navy saw in her I guess.

Who would have thunk two USAFA grads would have an easier time getting their kids into USNA than USAFA, guess the don't give any extra points for legacy, lol.

It has happens the other way around too. A good friend of my DD (USAFA 2014) is the DS of a USNA graduate and wanted nothing more than to follow in his father's footsteps. Alas, USNA didn't want him, but USAFA did. Who knows what quirks lie within admissions at the service academies. By the way, he is very happy at USAFA:biggrin:

Congrats and good luck to your DD!

My son is very happy at USNA, but his GF is at USAFA, she got an early LOA to USAFA but didn't get accepted to USNA! She loves USAFA! (I knew she would!)

I think the only thing keeping USAFA in the running for DD was the fact that she wouldn't have to cut her very long hair. ;)

Just a thought...Could it be possible that the service academies are talking to each other this year and doing a little horsetrading, much like a lot of MOCs do?

Legacy applicants get a very small number of points added to their application. I've heard about 5 points on a scale where you need around 2400 to be admitted.

Update

All LEAD, Falcon Foundation, and Prep School offers should be finalized next week (although some may be notified as early as today).

The exception is recruited athletes... prep school offers for them can continue into June.

Best wishes to all and good luck...

Will prep school appointees be notified through their portal or mail? Just so I know what to look for.
