I hear you ! I moved my daughters into college, and out of college.....I didn't do any Summer moves . (It didn't help that they were both on the East Coast and I am in flyover land).
Dr Strangelove ..Count your blessings, you don't have the typical college load to deal with. My daughters moved half of their rooms to college. Midshipman can get by with a few duffelbags and boxes, (and if lucky, a few boxes in the bowels of Bancroft Hall. The funniest thing I ever saw was right after Reform as a Plebe, a bunch of 3rd Class came barreling into our room....we expected the worst, but they essentially ignored us, and proceeded to climb up on the upper Rack and pulled a whole pile of things out from the drop ceiling. Rumor has it that practice ended when a whole ceiling collapsed.
All BGO's go through a 3-4 day initial training program at USNA during the Summer within the first 2 years of becoming a BGO. My initial training was 16 years ago , and we stayed in the 'Hall. (In fact, I stayed in one of my Plebe Year rooms -- 5029! To top it off, I roomed with two Classmates, one a Companymate and other I went to NAPS with). I am pretty sure BGO's still stay in the Hall during the initial training, although it was cancelled last summer and virtual this year. Alcohol related misconduct, say it isn't so .... a bunch of old grads going out into town each night, what could go wrong ? I will admit , the thought of climbing in and out of the upper racks did chill the consumption a bit.
