Yes, definitely correct. I should have expounded. After graduation, you officially are promoted to R2D2 (C2C). "Don't worry; this year I keep referring to my son as C3PO (C3C). Anyway; yes, they allow the cadets one last summer vacation to make a final decision on whether to commit or not. I thought the dinner was right after classes started; but HNeedle would definitely know better than I would.
Cindy; My son already knew what his car was. When my daughter went off to college, she go my wife's car, and I bought my wife a new car. Then when my daughter graduated, I spent a bit of money to do a complete maintenance checkup to include timing belt and other high-cost items. I then signed over the title to her as "Part" of her graduation present. My son will now get my wife's 2004 Camry. Then when he graduates the academy, I will sign over the title to him. He is then free to sell it, trade it in, or be smart and realize he has a dependable car without car payments until he's done with either med school, grad school, UPT, or whatever else he trains for. I am a little concerned, because he's part of the minority in which he's been able to stay going with his high-school sweetheart. They are still together after 2 1/2 years. (1 1/2 at the academy). And with us living only 2-3 hours away, I'm hoping he's not going to be driving home to see her/us every weekend. I don't want his grades to slip. Anyway, it's going to be an interesting summer.
