I checked my USNA portal today and saw that my status said I received a conditional offer.

I understand what an LOA is and what it entails, but am confused as to why I got an LOA instead of the regular appointment because my application is fully submitted. In the "My progress" section, everything is checked; I have my nom, my cfa is qualifying, and the app and evaluations are in (and have been since January), so I'm not really sure what the conditionality is based upon because I don't really know what else it wants from me. Anyone else encounter this, or am I missing something?

There have been several posts about this happening this year, LOAs with no conditions showing up. The speculation is that it’s a “wait…out” while your elected official is given a chance to notify you of an appointment. Then the appointment will show up in the portal.

You can probably limber up for your happy dance. Keep an eye on your phone for mystery callers and have a professional voice mail greeting set up.

Thank you for the info! Will definitely keep checking my status and stop sending random numbers to voicemail.

For sure have a professional voicemail. DS didn’t listen to his brilliant mother (me) and when he was in history class, he sent an unknown number to silent. He missed his Senator’s phone call regarding his appointment.

I still like reminding him of that. He tends to listen to me more frequently.

Congratulations and thank you for showing me what the portal actually looks like. My DD hasn't allowed me anywhere near it.

I would start warming up for a happy dance! This is exactly what my portal looked like before I received my appointment! Congrats!!

Multiple kids, multiple applications, multiple academies. And never once did I rate so much as a glimpse of the portal. (And to be perfectly honest, I really didn’t care to see the portal. It was “their thing.”) Somehow, I survived. 😄

@bubblyroses Did you receive an email or notification that your portal status changed, or did you just randomly check it and saw the LOA?

I got an LOA before my portal changed to an appointment too. There was no email or notification of a portal update until the LOA changed to a fully qualified appointment a few days later.
