DS is contracted MS1 and applying for CULP for next summer. He doesn't have a strong preference for a particular location. Apparently they have to select a continent. He's assuming that as a freshman he is unlikely to get Europe. Are there any regions that tend to be less popular and therefore where he would have a better chance of being accepted?
Thank you for your help.

It's really not going to matter what he puts down as his choice, many who are selected end up going to a place different then they listed. The best thing he can do is put down the area that interests him the most and he may get lucky. Being a freshman won't impact where he goes, if he would like Europe then he should list it, in the end they select a number for the entire program and then place them until all the slots are filled. Picking one area over another won't help or hurt his chances. My son was a freshman and went to Bosnia.

[emoji23]. Application is already in the works. Just wondering how likely it is that he will get the opportunity to participate.

In the past a substantial percentage of those who applied were accepted. If he has the approval of his battalion cadre, his chances are good. He'll likely find out in late December or early January.
