My DS was EA and then received a deferred to regular admissions letter in his portal on Dec 2nd. He had his MOC interview on Dec 5th and found out he received a principal nomination on Dec 20th when his MOC called him with the great news. Does this mean he is guaranteed a spot in the USAFA Class of 2018? and because he has a principal will he still have to wait for regular admission notifications to make it official?

I would email your admissions counselor to see if he could possibly get it earlier.

So if I received the principle nomination and I am also qualified for EA, does that mean I will know of my appointment by the 15th? Or should I also call my admissions counselor?

Folks...

If you haven't heard something by "XX" date...why bother the admissions counselor?

I mean, really? If you're a "Principal Nominee" then you WILL hear back from USAFA when they have completely processed your paperwork. If you are an "EA" anything...then you will hear from USAFA...

"When you hear from them!"

Impatience...will do nothing good for anyone and you might end up really tying up the admissions folks.

Be patient. I know it's not easy...trust me; I went through this process twice myself. NOTHING is written in stone as to when you "must absolutely" hear from USAFA.

Additionally, the boards do not meet while the AFA is not in school.
IOW calling the RD will do nothing since the board has not met in the last few weeks.
