I am a female in Dallas, TX applying to the class of 2027 for USNA. Here are my stats:
- 3.87 Weighted GPA
- 1320 SAT
- AP Scholar with Distinction (5s on APUSH, APES, Lang, HUGO; 4s on Euro and Seminar)
- Two internships (one with law firm, one with my Mayor)
- Varsity swim and varsity water polo
- Club triathlete (2022 world champion, 2022 and 2021 national runner up)

Let me know if you think I will be accepted to either USNA or USNAPS. Thank you!

You are most likely qualified for admission and are decently competitive. The main question is how you will stack up against those on the nomination slate. Granted all are qualified, you are directly competing against those nine other people. Some districts are competitive for certain Academies, some are competitive across the board, and others have very few people applying for Academies in general. What gets an appointment in one district might not get one in another.

Over to the resident BGOs for more in-depth appraisals/guidance.

Make them tell you no. Complete a quality application. Nail your CFA and interviews (competent and knowledgeable, not cocky).
Apply for all nominations you are eligible for.

You can’t get in if you don’t apply.

(Not a BGO— yet, app in process).

Just a mom of DS USNA who applied to four of the five academies and NROTC. And the daughter and granddaughter of SA attendees. Trust me things have changed since dad and grandfather applied!!

You have a shot. As stated above, you're competing against those on your Nomination Slate(s). Apply at all Nominations authorities you're eligible for. Raising your SAT scores would help. Given your AP scholar performance...perhaps read up on ACT test taking strategies and take the ACT if possible. Could be that you will do better on ACT than the SAT. Do this immediately and yes-put USNA down for receiving results. Talk to Senator Cruze and Cornin staffs and your Rep. staff. Make your case and showcase the triathlete performance. If you want to run at USNA, reach out to the Coaches via the USNA website. Contact your BGO and make a connection. Good luck.

Second the suggestion to try ACT. Some do significantly better on one test versus the other. Good luck!

Wow on your traithalon achievements! Bet you have competed in my town, and we probably have some acquaintances in common.

Spot on from @Don't Give Up the Ship. One thing to also keep in mind, is that you won’t have any way of knowing intangibles and, where you stand against your competitors: diversity initiatives, interviewing skills, geographically driven factors, how OTHERS fit into those areas. Also your nominating sources could rank via a principal method….with you benefiting, or not….which aslo affects your ‘chances’. Whether directly with your application, or indirectly with other applicants.

Admissions puts together a classs they want. And you could be choice #1 in this years class…and #4 next year, with the exact same resume. There is no way to know. Do your ABSOLUTE best! Nail your interviews! Shore up your plan B’s and wait and see. Remember NROTC, another fantastic path that gives you another nomination source next year if you don’t get in and decide to reapply.

Good luck!!

First off, nobody can tell about NAPS at this point. Academically, the APs seem to lead you away from NAPS.
You don't mention class rank but considering a WEIGHTED 3.87, I would expect Admissions to look more closely
at your Class Rank. Generally, with weighted GPAs, I see them above 4.0.
Also, while a 1320 SAT is good for many schools, it is not great for USNA and depending on your district, may be
a problem.
Question: Have you checked your swim times against what USNA is looking for? The triathlon stuff shows you to
be an outstanding athlete and that might be attractive to USNA's coaches.

Action Items for you with regard to USNA:
1. Prep and retake SAT and/or ACT
2. Check into recruiting standards for Swimming, etc
3. Prep for CFA, you will probably do well at it and a great CFA might be a eye opener in your favor.
