Hi!

What is the the DoDMERB like? Is it mearly a physical, or is it more in-depth? Is there a specific place I have to take the exam. Thanks.

The DoDMERB examination consists of a medical history that you fill out, and eye examination done by an optometrist or ophthalmologist, and a physical examination done by a physician.

The eye exam and physical exam are conducted by Concorde, Inc. Once your name has been submitted to DoDMERB as an applicant for a service academy or ROTC program, by those respective institutions, you will be contacted by mail to start getting your appointments completed.

RetNavyHM,

Thanks for replying back. Thank you also for being very thorough in descriptions. I have one more question, if you had a condition when you were about 4 but have been free of the condition since you were six, would you be able to pass the DoDMERB, or would you need a waiver?

It's going to depend upon what the condition was, how it manifested itself, what was treated, the end result, etc...etc...

Did I get it correct RNHM?

You are correct flieger83.

USMAalltheway, the best thing I can tell you right now, is to start the process, be honest, and see what happens. Also know that waviers can be granted for a multitude of medical disqualifications.

RetNavyHM,

When can I start taking the DoDMERB? Where would I report to to take it also?

Once the service academy or ROTC has notified DoDMERB that you are an applicant then the medical process starts. If you've already started your application to an SA, most likely you will be notified in July about the physical examination.

As for where you would get it done, I don't have that information. Most likely you will get the physical examination doen by Concorde, Inc. and when you contact them to schedule the appointments, they will pick a location that is close to you.

RetNavyHM,

Thanks for replying. I've already applied for an academy so I guess I wait until July. Thanks a lot for giving this info to me! This sorts out a lot of confusion I was having. Thanks again.
