Agreed on the "Wait" turning into an "unknown adjective" - except it's ME - not my kid. LOL It's a little tough when all other rolling applications have come back as a positive and the other schools are in constant contact about events, classes, professors, dorm assignments, etc. I, as the mom, am beginning to see that some of these other programs are truly amazing, too. Then, they start throwing in great scholarship offers and all of a sudden, the landscape starts changing, you know? My Kid is still laser focused on the Academy while I am over here like, "Hmmmm, what about this other school?!" Haha. Personally, having other offers come in already has taken some of the pressure off, though. So, there is that.
I will say that the Academy, overall, has been a little lacking in the communication department over the two year time frame we interacted with them. My guess, though, is that they are just overwhelmed and working with a small crew. When my older one enlisted in the CG, the recruiter NEVER communicated, replied to emails - nothing. My USAFA hubby was like, "WTF?" It was maddening for all involved. My son stuck it out and eventually finished the process. He is now a super happy Coastie. I had a conversation with the Coast Guard recruiter later and discovered that he was by himself working a three state area whereas the Marine recruiting offices had 9 recruiters for one city. Then, I understood. Sometimes, patience is required with such a small branch. So, perspective and patience for all involved - apparently even at the Academy level.
