For reference, I have completed 6/11 of the required forms needed for my application. With that, as of yesterday (8/28), I have completed all of my DoDMERB exams on the same day. Would anyone here be able to give me some insight as to when I'd be expecting my Evaluator ALO to contact me? Or should I contact them when they appear on my portal? Also, some common interview questions and tips would be very much appreciated.

there are a zillion interview threads already on the forums. Use the search function to locate them to find many good tips.

+1 @kinem
This suggestion is for you as well as other SA candidates regarding “tips” or information on topics of concern: Peel the "onion" on these forums. What I mean by that is, the information you seek is here in different layers. Start peeling.

Here is a layer of the “interview tips” onion. Slide over to the Naval Academy side and look under, “The Role of the Blue and Gold Officers”, pinned near the top. The BGO is the ALO equivalent. They serve similar functions in advising prospective candidates. Where you read “BGO,” substitute “ALO”; “Naval Academy”, substitute “AFA”. This should give you an idea of the interview process which should be similar.

Keep peeling the onion regarding topics of interest. By doing so you'll learn and retain more information regarding the entire application process. Consult your ALO with more specific concerns.
Good Luck!

+1 to @kinnem and @WT Door.

I use the “peel back an onion” analogy a lot in business situations. As in, every time you peel back a layer you learn more about the issue. Or, every time you peel back a layer it just makes you want to cry. Hopefully for OP it’s the former and not the latter.

For all lurkers, especially newcomers about to undertake the SA/ROTC app process: peel back the onion of SAF!

Thank you all so much for the advice! I'll be sure to do my research here with the threads already provided.
Once you've done that, if you have additional questions, feel free to ask. Indicate in your post that you've done your homework but still had a question. Good luck in your interview.

We found using google for searches was slightly better than the search bar on the service academy forums. You still get the service academy forums items but it will be more specific to what you ask. The search bar on the service academy forums sometimes will remove certain key words you may want as too short or pull up any article that contains one of the words in your search but really has nothing to do with what you are looking for. You may want to use a combo of the two searches depending on how much info you can find that is relevant to what you are seeking.

Practice interview! Saved my life! Find someone who can give your practice - maybe your dad hires people at his business, maybe there's a retired officer at your church.. find someone and have a practice interview
