I had everything submitted with green check marks next to every item for the last 3 months. The only item I was missing was the interview which stated “your liaison officer will reach out to you to schedule the interview if you need one. Do not reach out to them.” Assuming this is my fault even though I just followed clear instructions.

Have you checked all your junk or spam folders? My ds had many dodmerb and other vital emails go there...

That would be a really bad break if they are there.

Nope. I received a nom and am medically qualified. The only red X is the interview which I have still shots off the websites of it clearly stating “You will be contacted by a West Point Admissions Field Force representative to schedule the interview.” On the other hand USAFA contacted me immediately back in October when I was ready to do the interview.

Did you contact admissions or your liaison officer at any point when it clearly taking too long?

I did not because the instructions said to not contact your liaison officer and that the liaison officer will only contact you if you need it. I figured I did not need the interview due to not being contacted

Call admissions and find out what's going on. That's the only way to handle it. Everyone here would be guessing. If you followed their instructions they can't sing you for it.

Agreed. I’ve been calling all day and have several outgoing emails. Hopefully it works out

I also received this letter yesterday and had no portal update saying my file was closed. I received the following email the night prior (Friday):

BOTTOM LINE UP FRONT: Please check your USMA Candidate Portal

The USMA file completion deadline recently passed and as a routine action, the USMA Admissions office closed a relatively large number of files due to insufficient progress. Owing to some technological issues, a few candidates files were closed for a brief period, which in turn caused a postal letter to be mailed out. If you received a hardcopy letter in the mail informing you that your USMA application file was closed, there is a very small chance that this letter was sent to you in error.

If you believe you received this postal mailing, you are encouraged to check your candidate portal to determine your file status. Whatever you see on the portal is your true USMA application status. Whether the candidate portal says your file is open or closed, that can be trusted as it is your correct file status.

Thank you and we apologize for any confusion. Go Army!

Respectfully,

CHECK YOUR PORTAL! Your portal will have the most up-to-date information, so if it doesn't say your file is closed this was most likely a mistake. Personally, my portal was not closed when I looked.

Thanks! Mine originally was not closed when I looked, but now it does say it is closed?!!

Boy, USMA admissions is having a rough go of it lately! I don’t recall a SA having these kinds of issues before? Maybe I just don’t recall them. What a headache. I’m sure admissions is as frustrated as candidates.

Sounds like they should switch back, haha. I just heard back from my RC and he confirmed that my portal is open. Cadet35, I'd recommend emailing your RC to figure out why it was closed.

USMA Admissions activity this year seems oddly similar to the Iowa causus... Sympathy to all who have been affected by these "glitches." This process is stressful enough without adding in errors.

After contacting admissions they now say the 2/4 letter was an error but a new letter dated 2/5 will be sent explaining why it is still closed? Just makes no sense- whole situation is very odd

Same thing happened to my son. He's a college re-applicant, and the message "you need to send in your college transcripts" is still red. He's sent in the transcripts three times and his RC sent an email that they've been received and are on file, but there's no portal update. The on the portal, his application was listed as CLOSED, then reversed the next day. He got the hard copy mail saying it was closed, and that correspondence is still on the portal, but the application is open.

I wonder if this will impact the timing of a admission decision--I hope not.

Apparently I’m academically disqualified with a 1200 SAT.

Crazy all of the time just wasted.. I could’ve been so much more productive if I would of known that I was disqualified back in July. I could apply ED to schools and complete college applications much much earlier than I did.

I would still hold tight. A single score doesn't disqualify you. I don't think anything is a done deal until IT gets their act together and the letters stop getting generated.
