Just wanted to share my DS's success with a group of people who understand what "being contracted" with AROTC means(without a 10 minute explanation...).
This has been a long awaited honor that many of you have been hearing about since the January 2011/March 2011 board threads. I sincerely appreciate all of the support offered here as DS has worked his way through the National Guard/SMP process.
Also, for those who were not offered a scholarship, yet, please think carefully about Guard/Reserve/SMP options in your state. This path isn't straight or guaranteed, but for my DS it has allowed him to keep his dream of serving the United States Army as an officer alive.
The journey now continues and since he's a little wiser and understands now a little more about selfless service it will hopefully end in a successful commissioning in spring 2015.
Thanks again for everyone's support, SAF - a lifesaver for ROTC newbies like me!
