It's always a good idea to check your Spam folder(s) when looking for email from sources who are not known contacts. This would normally include DoDMERB.

Michigan Tech congratulated him on the scholarship but we first found out through the AFROTC portal. So in effect if we didn’t look at the portal the Michigan Tech email would have been our first notification.(as FYI he didn’t even apply to Michigan Tech. They contacted him and were congratulating him and saying he should give them a look and apply).
He didn’t get the “official” ROTC email until about 3 days later.
 
Thanks for that info. So your son was applying for AFROTC…has anyone who applied for AROTC receive Scholarship notification from any of their schools?

You can ask, but they are not supposed to tell you, so please don't bug them. For example, I have the list, but can not contact winners until the results are officially uploaded. Be patient. They will be released soon.

Oh, future military leaders who may well need to make decisions that impact lives, try to demonstrate you are cool under pressure - recommend fake it until you can make it as needed. This process is tough and it's easy to get consumed - as a parent I for months checked that portal waaaay to often while waiting until I finally stopped doing that (well, suppose it was easier when 2 scholarships were in-hand and he was just waiting on the third) but the candidates, especially those who chose to be very identifiable as specific Civil Air Patrol members et al. by their non-anonymous choice of usernames on this board - like West Side Story lyrics guide:
"Be, cooly-cool...". "stay loose..." "Breeze it, buzz it, easy does it. "
