I am a new appointee to USAFA and was wondering if there would be any issue for me next year over Christmas break. My family is spending Christmas in Switzerland and I would like to go with them, but im confused on the regulations for cadets traveling abroad.
Thanks for the help!

I would imagine you would need permission or at the very least notify them you are going. The bigger issue is that you are going to Switzerland. It is one of the more dangerous countries in Europe and has been aligned with ISIS for years

Thanks for the reply. Not so sure about Switzerland being a dangerous country though...lol

I have no idea if this post is sarcastic or not.

You can definitely travel abroad during your break. At USAFA there is a system for gaining approval. Over break cadets I know went everywhere from Turks and Caicos to Ukraine. I wouldn't foresee Switzerland being an issue at all. There are no travel advisories against going there, per the state department: https://travel.state.gov/content/tr...el-Country-Information-Pages/Switzerland.html

There is paperwork and some briefings you will need to accomplish. Get with your AOC after basic, and they can get the ball rolling.

I didnt think i had to actually say that my comment about Switzerland was sarcastic. Besides being netural in about every war in the last 100 years, it is also one of the more peaceful places in the world.

I got it :|. This message board needs to add a "ha ha" button.

A smiley, a roll of the eyes, or something similar can help make one's intent clear(er)!
