I’m wondering for ROTC if cadets are allowed to wear war belts, I put away my ROTC issues FLC because the zippers, straps, and buckles are all jacked up. I brought a plate carrier and had it set up, looking pretty good right now, but I’m still trying to make the kit slim as possible since I would be laying down most the time during ROTC training. It would be really nice if i can wear a war belt, gun belt, whatever it’s called. So I can put some of the stuff on the belt. Someone familiar with the regulation regarding that please let me know. It would be very helpful. Thanks again.

I'm assuming your Army ROTC. If you are, read AR-670-1. If your belt is approved under AR 670-1 then you can probably wear it.

A lot of these things are "up to the discretion of the commander." What you should be doing is passing this question up your chain of command because nobody on this forum can tell you what your command wants / doesn't want.

My advice: wear whatever your unit issues you. Everyone in my battalion who wears stuff which makes them look "special" usually end up getting "special" treatment.

Same advice i have with all my lieutenants in initial counseling go link up with an NCO in your detachment with your FLC and attachmentss. The NCO can make sure it is jacked up so you can exchange it or validate that this isnt operator headspace and timing.

Two benefits
1. You wont look like a knucklehead or spend your own $.
2. It gives your NCOS a chance to invest in you and make sure standards are being met.

Make sure to get some plate carrier polish. You can't be a true warrior with a dull plate carrier.

Do you tend to sleep on your back or stomach? That will dictate how you set up your kit.

As far as moto gear, I always recommend picking up an extra box of grid squares and some chemlite batteries.

I can see where this is going.

If OP is in NROTC, he will definitely need to bring his own shoreline.

Good advice, but more likely that not you will not be allowed to wear it. There is a uniform SOP at Advanced Camp, and you have to wear the ROTC issued gear. All mismatched camo patterns and everything.
