Hangout: USNA Induction Day / I-Day Class of 2028: Thursday 27 June 2024

I think you’re good. I think instructions said it was preferred to have it mailed in by the agency, but uploading to the portal yourself is also acceptabl

Thankfully, our county police HQ and our local City police HQ were able to do this while we waited. We explained the reason for the request and had the first page of the .pdf for them to review. They did ask for my DS's passport, which we had ready. Go Navy, beat Army!
So we are reading this correctly about the police record check? DS has to go to city and county police and have them fill out the forms separately and mail them in. Just the city police won't suffice?

The ABS questionnaire is not loaded yet. There are a slew of 2028 parents on the USNA BLB 2028 Facebook page. We are all helping each other out with questions and answers. Many of us have done this all before. You might want to join the page. It's very helpful. Start going through the PTR b/c it take awhile to complete it all. For example the Security Clearance "cheat sheet" the plebe needs to work through is over a 100 pages. The plebes need to submit information for their clearance and this "cheat sheet" they will bring in with them so they can have info they may not normally know (for example your neighbor's address and phone number from a house you lived in 5 years ago, or a passport #, work numbers etc.). Anyway, all the links are available on the PTR page within USNA.edu. Slowly go through it...checking off completed forms as you go. Have two folders going, one for forms to bring on IDay and one for forms you will mail for a May 15th USNA delivery.
Can you post the link for this form please??

The instructions asked for you to consider what jurisdictions you may be subject to and gave a few examples. It probably varies depending on where you live. DS took forms to his school resource officer, the city police dept and the county sheriff’s office. He provided them with the form, a copy of the instructions and a self addressed stamped envelope for mailing.

Last year our DD had to call around before she found the county police would do it. However, they would not mail it, even with a preaddressed envelope and postage. So she scanned it and sent it back to the USNA and additionally attached the pdf version to an email to her USNA admissions contact explaining why it was not mailed.

DD received her PTR email yesterday. She set up and registered, however there is nothing (questionnaires) in the portal itself. There are also no tabs or sections in her CIS profile to upload any other requested paperwork at this time. Any suggestions or tips in case she is missing something at this time?
Here is the link to all required forms to print and complete before/on I-Day. There are medical forms and other info that needs to be completed—most require printing and fill out in black ballpoint pen! Let me know if there are any issues accessing it.

For the Agreement to Serve Form, can a parent be your witness? There's a separate page for parent signatures, so I'm not 100% sure if I need an outside signature.

Can an AD NCO conduct your personal swearing in ceremony or is it only a commissioned officer that can conduct it?

Are personal laptops permitted at USNA? There is just a lot of stuff on here that I use often that would be a headache to transfer over. Also what electronics are provided? I would love a printer and am wondering if I should bring it.

Don’t bring any of that on I-Day. Parents can bring or send later.
You’ll be issued a laptop package.
Yes, mids often have their own laptops, but you usually cannot connect a “civilian” laptop to a govt system. The right security protocols have to be installed. I’ll leave it to current or recent mids to post on how it works with personal IT gear enough from home. Ditto printer.

You can bring your personal laptop after plebe summer, if you choose. You will also have a USNA laptop. Printers are no longer issued, but are still needed. Storage space in rooms is very limited, and moving around during the summer requires stream-lined packing. That said lots of printers were winding up in the dumpsters when everyone had their own, so they stopped issuing. Now plebes coordinate with roommates who buys the printer (while others fund ink, paper, favors, etc). If you have one you like, have your family bring it to PPW with your other electronics.

Yeah, kid's printer is sitting in his room upstairs. Said he barely used it.

He's got his personal laptop - which he left home this week so as not to be tempted to play instead of study. And, he has his PS4. Which kinda defeats the purpose of leaving the laptop here. :p

USNA Midshipman Budget Book.

Want to know about mid pay, deductions, Ace loan, using outside scholarship money, etc.?

This is updated annually. The latest is below.

Always good info provided by Capt MJ. I reviewed this document and one of the most interesting things for me to see was the issued gear for the class of '27 throughout the year. Really good to see what will be issued for the plebes-2-be on I-Day as well as what will be issued through the year. (See pages 16-23 of this document).
