will we be grouped with people from our hometown? do cadets from same states usually all know each other? Thx

Are you talking about R day? I can only speak to USNA, but the day our son arrived it was jump in the figurative pool and join 1196 of your new best friends from all walks of life and different states, socioeconomic backgrounds, educational backgrounds etc. He knows a couple of plebes from his state from Boys State but they haven’t run into each other yet at USNA. It will all work out.

thx, a couple of my JROTC buds including myself got accepted and we’re wondering if we’ll se each other around or be assigned to same companies.

On R-Day in 2013 my DS only had one roommate and he was an international cadet from Botswana! He was a funny and cool guy to have as a roommate since he had prior military training in Africa. Roommates get scrambled after beast and you get your company assignment for the year. Usually the plebes will get scrambled into a new company for the remaining 3 years at USMA. My DS is still best friends with his plebe roommates, they helped each other through the first year and formed a lifetime bond.

DS 2021 never scrambled. I personally don’t think it matters if you do or don’t. They change up scrambling and shotgunning companies throughout the years. Meeting and living with new people is good imo. Regardless, you will be meeting many new people and creating lifelong bonds with your new brothers and sisters. Change is good, and you will often move and see changes in the Big ARMY.
