LEAD Program Appointment Thread (C/O '22/USAFAPS '19)

I am an active duty airman and applied to the prep school via my 1786 and the admissions portal says that i have been denied. Is this just for direct entry or both direct entry and the prep school because I heard you are typically considered for both anyways? I have a 3.1 GPA from high school and 26-28 scores on my ACT's and was kinda of curious if there is still hope for the prep school which is really what I applied for in the first place.

Did you apply for Prep School directly on the 1786, or for the Academy? If the Academy, then they will automatically consider you for Prep School if not chosen for a direct appointment. The Prep School box, on the other hand, will not automatically consider you for the Academy. They also go off of your commander's recommendation. Based on what the Director of Admissions told us when he visited not long ago, they mainly look at what your commander says and the 1786 when it comes to a prior enlisted application. I'm not sure on the timeline however. I've heard that they stop sending out acceptances by the end of April, but I've also heard that enlisted can find out as late as June. That doesn't make much sense though based on the second part of the application having due dates after accepting. Hopefully you being denied is only for the Academy portion with a chance at still getting to the Prep School. Good luck, I hope this helps.

Has anybody got any info on outprocessing current base for direct entry guys?

Called Cadet Personel and they said that the list they get from admissions containing the names of the Enlisted Airmen Appointees was not yet supplied to them, therefore they cannot reach out to AFPC/MilPDS to update our assignments yet. They said they should get the list on Friday.

As for the actual outprocessing, the specifics will be dependent on your Squadron/base.

Prep school directly. This is why i'm kind of confused as a lot of the different handbooks are kind of conflicting (like the LEAD handbook and the instructions to candidates, ect.) I also don't have any kind of negative paperwork and it seems to me like my scores according to some of the handbooks are slightly above average in every category.

I'd give them a call then. If you are denied, at least that way you can possibly find out what to do better next time you apply. Make sure you do the letters of recommendation and everything else that is 'optional' as well.

Hey everyone, a Facebook group has been made for those going to the prep school. It's a closed group called USAFAPS 19 if you are interested.

Just today I received my out-processing checklist. However, my orders have not yet been passed down. My hope is that orders will follow shortly. Maybe a week? Two weeks? Any longer than that and I would start making phone calls. Most of the items on my checklist can't be completed without orders so my hands are tied.

Is it an out-processing checklist from your base or from the school? Who did you ask for it, or did they give it to you?

Just got orders today.

Real talk though, has anyone else been having to deal with all their coworkers sarcastically saluting them and calling them "Cadet" and "Lieutenant"? Like I get it's all in good fun, but **** that got old by the second day my unit knew.

Did they actually populate in vMPF or did you actually go in to MPF to talk to them? Mine still aren't populated in vMPF and I've gone in like three or four times already.

As for the name calling... a little bit, but I just keep the joke going and say "It's Cadet-Select WinstonWolfePF to you, peasant."
