Leaders Encouraging Airmen Development

I wonder if they've already racked and stacked the LEAD applicants and now the only thing we are waiting on are the Apr 15 and May 1 acceptance deadlines for the civilians.

Hopefully so. This way they can take the count, whatever it is, and send it out right away. They will probably give you two more weeks to accept. I would think they would want to arrive at a "final" count as soon as possible, so the sooner they notify, the sooner they will know what their numbers are.

No one in admissions asked ME of course, but I think you guys should have been among the FIRST to know, not the last!

Good luck to all!

DS called a couple days ago, and said he wanted to use some of his leave, to come home in a couple weeks. He was going to ask when he got to work.

He was told yesterday to hold off on the request for a few days. Not sure why, but of course in my mind, everything revolves around the Academy, and any news, so I'm hoping that's the reason he has to wait.

Ha Ha! Thank you so much! We are all grateful for your support of our young men and women who are already serving!

It wouldn't really be a LEAD appointment then, right? It would have just been an airman who applied...

I mean, it's not charged as a LEAD slot, but as a MOC slot.

my counselor made it sound like it was a lead slot

Maybe your son's CC is better informed, because I just went back home to California for a week of leave. Hopefully there is some good news when I return!

Hmmm, interesting.

Looks like on the civilian side, things are happening, and final decisions are being made.

Now, lets get LEAD going!!!

Doubt if we will hear much of anything until after April 15. They need to determine which and how many candidates they can make offers to, once they know how many previously made offers have been declined. I think this is why they are using the waitlist process. They asked the waitlisted candidates to respond whether or not they wanted to be waitlisted in an effort to reduce the number of offers they might make to waitlisted candidates that ultimately get declined. Once they have an accurate count, they will send out offers to the wait list, and possibly direct appointment LEAD candidates as well. There are 240 slots at Prep, as many as 50 of which they are allowed to give to LEAD candidates.

After they have made the next round of offers (after April 15) they will look at the rest of the list to determine who they should offer Prep slots to, which means that if a LEAD candidate qualifies for Prep, those offers will likely not be made until May.

Yea, I've been following that. Just seems like we are getting close, and that's what I'm excited/hopeful about.

Found out today, it was held up for something else. All good, and today is a great day for him, but it didn't have anything to do with the Academy. We will be booking the trip home, tonight.

Back to waiting...

Yes sir. Needless to say I was checking up on the forum during the commercials.

Just go workout everyday after work. That will help take your mind off all this.

And keep planning the secondary options... I have a million things I'm doing if I don't get this.

After the gym I've been going on 1 Hour+ runs just to keep my mind off things.

Saw around 11 cadets at the DFAC this morning. Definitely stoked my motivation about wanting to get in. It's going to be a long rest of the month until we find out...

Does anyone have any credible information to the effect that the LEAD board did in fact meet this week?

I talked to a LEAD rep on the phone about 2 weeks ago and she said that they were going to meet next week. I think they're just waiting to see how many civilian slots they fill before they give us the news.
