LOA After Nomination Interview

Hello all!

I recently received an LOA to the USNA, and was wondering if I should let my MOC's offices know. My Representative already did his interviews through 3 panelists, which I went in for about 2 weeks ago (decisions should come out 2nd week of December). Would it be appropriate to reach out to the staffer and see if I could add my LOA to my file? My Senator, meanwhile did written interviews and his decision won't come out until the end of January. (My other nom sources are for the USAFA)

Yes, it would be appropriate to reach out to the staffer. Some may argue that this might not be helpful. I think it cannot hurt you to reach out. Good luck!

May be different for your MOC but in DS case he was specifically asked by all 3 MOC offices to let them know if/when he received any LOAs.
 
Partly depends on how that MOC runs their process. Some specifically state in the instructions that no updates are permitted after you submit your application. If they have asked for such information, then it would be appropriate to send. Likely they decide who gets the NOM shortly after they have conducted all of the interviews.
 
How much odds you would have with LOA? I mean it helps but any number or fact to back it up?
 
Our Senators and MOC's had some education sessions early on in the process and they specifically noted LOAs. It said they would be divided out, which I can only assume would be so they could maximize appointments. Our Senators work together so they don't duplicate any noms so they probably don't want to put two noms with LOAs under the same Senator. Long story short, I would notify them that the LOA was received. When my DS had his interview, they already knew that he had an LOA so they may already know but it doesn't hurt to tell them.

Are you implying that if one kid with one SA’s LOA applies three MOC for the same SA, he will get one nomination? I believe that is a right way to do it. However, what if a kid has two or more LOAs? Does he need to rank and inform all three MOCs?

Every MOC/Senator is different.

My NY son had an LOA to USNA, and did not receive Senator noms (despite an impeccable record and great interviews) because he had one from MOC.

My advice with multiple LOAs - pick the top one and apply to MOC for that one. In a less competitive district, the MOC might give a none to multiple SAs.

The Senators for the other LOAs.

I'm just a hopeful parent so I won't pretend to know all the answers to all the scenarios that may come up. Here is a screen shot from the ppt that I was talking about and from which I made some "assumptions." I wish I could go back to these sessions they had knowing what I know now, I'd have a lot more quesitons. :) Again, this was just for our MOC so I'm sure it's different everywhere.

No LOA yet and not super competitive. Enjoy the waiting game now. Anyone know if Maryland senators or moc always release after new year? Would it be nice before the holiday ?
 
Is it typical to not receive info about interviews this late? I received info from one senator but still waiting for word from another senator and my congressperson. I have an LOA to West Point and have completed every part of my file including CFA and DoDMERB for USMA and USAFA.

MOCs can conduct their nom process any way and on any timeline they wish, as long as they get their slates to the SAs by 1/31.
