Prayers for the crew.
It was reported the aircraft was found after having gone missing. Did the SAR crew find the aircraft surrounded by wreckage strewn from a crash? If so, may the crew rest in peace. In this case, if the helo had landed safely, the crew would have stayed with the aircraft. The survival vests have an emergency radio and personal cell phones could possibly be used to notify authorities that the aircraft was safe on deck. The Super Stallion is a huge helicopter. If the crew had to brave the elements, staying inside the cabin area would have been the best option until help arrived. God bless them all.Looks like the aircraft was found and SAR teams are looking for the crew. Any thoughts from those who have been through survival training? Are you taught to stay with/near a downed aircraft?
There's a debris field according to ABC News currently broadcasting. It was reported the aircraft was found after having gone missing. Makes sense. But, I'm not sure what else they can say. Puffing the difficulty at least buys time if the gov't doesn't want leaked info.I’m not trying to be a jerk. But listening to news outlets I’m hearing ‘it’s snowing or it’s cold or it’s raining and the topography is difficult’. Seriously? We are one of the best war fighting platforms in the world.
I drove that pass last weekend. Not saying I know things. I don’t. But if in our own backyard we can’t send resources to search and rescue due to some rain??? This terrain is isolated and rocky with limited road access. But it isn’t Mars. Or some hilly terrain? It’s not a good look that media is pushing. This is 4000 feet max. Not 10k where we operated in Afghanistan.
I am confident we can and should do better in responding re media. I just want media to report better.
I’m salty. And sad. Maybe I just want good news. My heart is breaking for the families, service members and loved ones of those involved.
just yelled out loud something similar w broken heartdammit
