Hello! I jumped from #7 to #2 in class rank at my high school because I took a ton of difficult college classes at the local university and some at the community college (to learn valuable IT skills and science skills, not to boost class rank). I sent my seventh semester transcript, and I’m wondering, will admissions look at the change in rank, and also, will they view this jump positively? The classes I took were clearly difficult and I would hope that shows that I took them to learn, not to boost my class rank (I took 200 level classes such as CIT 211 and only one 101 class). Thanks!

Your grades are one factor, ACT’s SAT’s, ECA’s, nomination, BGO interview, CFA all play a part in admissions. It’s the whole package….Good Luck

A move up in ranking 5 steps cannot possibly be seen in a negative light. Update the academy as needed with awards, gpa or athletics and focus on what you can.
Spend time with family and friends. Control what you can. :)

My high school doesn't weigh the GPA. Neither does Naval academy. I feel as GPA doesn't matter as much. Probably a lot of people will have a 3.9 and above and take high level courses.

Also, are you doing running start?

First, we are already past the deadline, so not sure if USNA will take the update. Presuming, USNA takes the update or an updated transcript, I’d doubt the bump up in class rank would have a huge difference…certainly good you are in the second spot, but if you already had a relatively large class size, a rank of seven already said a lot about your performance. Jumping up five spots is unlikely to be THE deciding factor.
