Navy vs Air Force Game is ON!!

I don't think you understand football.

I understand football fine. I just think you don't understand and appreciate how ironic and hilarious it is to have someone who roots for Army football to be talking smack about another team's success on the field over one season.

LOL...now I'm sure you don't understand football.

What's not to understand? Army football has exactly ONE winning season since 1996 (thank goodness for that 7-6 team a couple of years ago, huh?).

And here you are talking smack about another Academy's football team. I think the issue here is you don't understand the concept of irony. Perhaps if I can find some cartoon of the word on a Google search, that might help explain the concept to you.

Remember who Air Force beat in Week 7 of 2006? No one else does, either. :thumb:

You can't make up for a bad season now by talking about what you did X years ago. 1-5 is 1-5, no matter what you did last season. Or the ten seasons before. Army won National Championships when Air Force wasn't even a service. Doesn't mean anything now.

Or maybe you like the past...like last year, when Army almost doubled up on AF 41-21.

Part of sports is clowning on your rivals whether you're beating the world or licking your wounds.

Folks, ALL of the SAs that play D-1/FBS football have had their share of ups and downs over the years.

One of the great things about SA football is that, other than the 3 hrs on the gridiron once a year, we are all comrades in arms. Let's try to keep that sentiment in mind when posting about the game.

Thank you.

I have to agree - I'll support Navy football against anyone other than Army or AF - and have actually been to more Navy games this year than the other two (and am heading to Toledo in a couple weeks - somehow Navy has a great assortment of Midwest games this year!).

We were at the hotel after the game on Saturday and my son (USAFA firstie) mentioned that day at the game was the first time he'd had to sing Toast (3rd verse of the AF song) after their game ever since he'd always been playing it. He added that he wasn't even sure of all the words. My husband and I (both USMA grads) mentioned we didn't know all the words to that one either. Then my son (who spent last semester at West Point) mentioned he'd never learned all of the Alma Mater, despite playing it at many basketball games with the WP band. However, all three of us knew every word of the Navy Blue & Gold (old and new version). What's wrong with this picture?

And speaking of the game, one more video that someone else just posted of him on YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n0dNVpUOvNM

We had hoped to go to the Merchant Marine-RPI game on Saturday, but KP was the only service academy that didn't play thanks to the shutdown. And it was RPI's Homecoming - they substituted football with RPI-Clarkson women's soccer. Certainly not the same, but the RPI football team came out in their jerseys and formed a "tunnel" when the soccer team took the field.:thumb: Still, we had looked forward to wearing our KP shirts and DH (an RPI alum and former faculty member) wearing his RPI hat.

We go to Army games fairly often since we live north of WP, most recently for the Army-Wake Forest game a few weeks ago. Even though DS went Navy, we're very happy to root for Army - as long as they're not playing Navy.
