I don't know this.... but I would think it would be fairly competitive. NC, as you know, has a very large military population. The bases at Fayetteville and Jacksonville are pretty darn large and a lot of kids want to follow in Mom or Dad's footsteps. That doesn't even include the air bases. That being said, there are plenty of congressional districts where the competition would not be so heavy, but you can bet everyone is filing for Senatorial nominations so that would be very competitive. All you can do is apply and put forth the best application possible. Good luck!
I would say it fluctuates year-to-year. I am from eastern NC also, and my district does not usually see a lot of applicants. However, this year, I know of five people from my county that are applying (which is a lot for my county). This is not including the other three counties in the district. It really just depends on the location and year. Good luck to your DD!
Must have been Tillis. A few of my friends got the letter too. Not sure if Burr has interviews or not. That's why there is one more than one option! Hope it goes well.
Burr does interviews, but traditionally he never interviews until the 1st week of Jan. Impo, I would never say that NC is competitive. Yes, some areas within the stat are more competitive, but on a whole it is not. NC MOCs do not talk to spread the wealth, you can get 1, 2 or all 3. Competitive states like to spread the wealth, meaning you can get only 1 to only 1 SA.
My DS eons ago, got all 3 for USAFA, and we lived in Goldsboro.
I got the rejection from Tillis as well. It was discouraging, but my BGO said that most get their nominations from the Congressman and to sit tight.Must have been Tillis. Received my nomination from Congressman Pittenger today and received a letter in the mail about a week and a half ago from Senator Tillis informing me I had qualified to interview with his board. What district are you? I applied to Burr as well but nobody I know has heard anything from him.
