Nine cadets pulled from graduation ceremony

I, too, was on the brink of disaster before figuring things out. In fact, I made the Dean's list twice! during my four years (and this wasn't the Dean's list you wanted to be a part of) ;). My parents got a nice note from the university advising them that if I had another semester like the last, I wouldn't be invited back to school. Thankfully, a change of majors, summer school and an "epiphany" on how to study helped me claw back to a decent standing.

"Only twice on the Dean's OTHER list?"

Slacker...

I'm not proud to say I was a USAFA "AC PRO" ace...

But, remember: DG!

USNA is the same. Usually a handful of two who graduate after the summer session. Usually 2-3 folks who graduate in Dec after their classmates. Heck USNA will hold a graduation on Monday or Tuesday next week to commission the athletes competing this week such as lacrosse, crew and anyone else. I agree the language and details behind this would really drive how dramatic or not this really was.

For the sake of comparison, at USNA there are 31 midshipmen in the class of 2017 that were not permitted to graduate on time (this does not include the ~4 women's laxers who missed graduation due to the final four). I don't know the specific breakdown but a few of them had missed some time due to some serious medical issues, the rest are either conduct or academic issues, or maybe PRT. Some of them were actually forced to usher at graduation on Friday.

Too late; confessional-post of the year has already been awarded. You should have waited until next year to your redemption story. Lol.

I was fortunate...about 950 in my class, I think I stood at 828....

And nobody ever asked after that day...

Steve . . . awesome . . . I was right there with you defending the rear . . . ;-)

As I recall, on our graduation day there were 2 or 3 (perhaps more) pulled from the lineup that AM due to poor decisions from the night prior to graduation . . . They still graduated at some point, but did not get to participate in graduation. Academy had ready stand-ins waiting to fill their spot for the ceremony (2 degrees dressed in parades with gold sashes) that way no change to the script was required and no holes were present in the formation. Mom and Dad find out afterward in some cases . . . "That doesn't look like Johnnie???" as the stand-in crosses the stage, gets the diploma and salutes. . I'm sure that is a "happy" conversation afterward . . . ;-) Pretty sure it happened before our graduation year and has happened every year since.

Oh geez...I'd forgotten about that until you posted this!

I always wondered what kind of conversation that would be....

As for the two of us...eh, we didn't turn out too bad!

And because you might know him, the guy that taught me PHY411 in three days? Pat V of CS-37.

Love to hear these stories. Steve, I don't think I have ever laughed so hard at one of, "a long time ago, this happened to me" stories. Well done in recovering, and I would say you did it nicely.
