Yesterday afternoon I checked my application and saw a nomination that I received as of 12/11 and DoDMERB notified me that I received a waiver sometime recently. I haven't gotten contacted by my nomination source, so I don't know who its from, but my dad is really excited. Is this as good of a sign as he's saying? I don't want to get my hopes up over nothing.
My portal still says "Complete Pending Review."
I've heard that USNA doesn't start the waiver process unless they want you, but I don't have any good sources on that.

Thanks for any help you can offer.

It’s a good sign in that you’re still in the running. At this point, others are learning that they didn’t get a nomination (not necessarily the end of the world, by the way) or didn’t get cleared by DODMERB (not necessarily the end of the world, as you know). Be happy that you’re still in the game, but have that Plan B ready nonetheless. And stop checking your portal constantly, so that you can fully enjoy the holidays and senior year.

Sounds positive but still have plan B,C,D ongoing. Nothing is complete until oath of office on I-day.

Depends on what the waiver is for. Last year, it seemed that everyone who was colorblind received a waiver but only a very small number of those ultimately received an appointment. If it is a more individualized determination, such as where they need to review your medical records, it's probably a good sign.

Note: Please don't give us your medical details. It's a privacy thing and no one can tell you any more than the above even if we were to know your medical issue.

They start the DoDMERB process when they think your competitive, not if they "want you". Since your competitive, by definition, you're still in the race, but it's still a race. You are not across the finish line yet.

The waiver comes from USNA (not DoDMERB) so if you're grasping at straws here (as many are, this time of year), I think that you can read a small amount into the fact that you received a waiver. As @kinnem says above, you're certainly still in the running. This thing is a marathon though. You may have to wait until Spring to find out, one way or the other. Keep working on Plan B and Plan C, but keep the faith.
