I have received a nomination to USAFA from my senator and congressman. Does having two nominations increase my chance of receiving an appointment?

DODMERBS could be handled by 121 General Hospital on Yongsan Garrison or the Air Force clinic at Osan. This is not uncommon, as many Americans live and work overseas. Presumably you will still have a state of residence for tax purposes, where you vote and own property. Doing legwork early to determine how MOCs handle out-of-state residents will be key. Interview can be done by VTC or Skype. More challenging, I would think, are DODMERB medical visits.
This will make great material for essays addressing how he coped with challenges, learning to live more independently, etc.Thank you for reply, so this still applies if he went to boarding school in CA?? So parents live in Korea (with property voting & pay PA tax) but child in CA.??
Yes thank you, he has already lived in Korea from ages 3-8, then Singapore ages 8-12, now in PA. I am debating weather to follow my hubby back to Korea or stay in PA with DS, or send him to boarding or homestay?? Very hard decisionsThis will make great material for essays addressing how he coped with challenges, learning to live more independently, etc.
My son was awarded a 4yr NROTC scholarship to his first choice school, Purdue where he was also accepted. We live in Iowa. During his interview it was recommended he list at least 1 in state school in his top 3 which he did and prayed to God he would not get Iowa State or he would wait list and ask for a change if he did. My son also applied to University of Michigan, University of IL and Embry Riddle Daytona all pretty expensive except Iowa. I had read on these boards that if your son is qualified they will go down the list of his first choice and see what is open at that school and so on if they want to award him a scholarship. I could be wrong but during my son's NROTC scholarship he was told he had an exemplary application and he would push for my son to get Purdue. We feel very lucky! Still waiting to hear from USNA and USAFA and he had 3 nominations to those (2) USAFA and (1) USNA which are his first choices.Hi I will post my ? here cuz Capt MJ & others seem very knowledgeable my older son applied to SA and waiting on Casey & MOC nom this week, he applied to 5 NROTC schools and waiting on NROTC Scholarship. He applied to these schools in order UCBerkley, USC, PennState, Cornell, & Duke. Because these are expensive schools except PennState will it be difficult for him to get 4yr ROTC scholarship?? Should he have applied to more state schools to increase his chances?? Does NROTC pick his school or go with his top choice or give him a choice?? Thx u
Congrats on your sons nominations & ROTC scholarship & Perdue!!! My son did get in PennState his #3 school on his list, haven't heard from other schools, so I guess price of school doesn't matter?? We are waiting on nominations right now, PA is slower compare to other states on nominations his first choice is USNA then USMA then USCGA.My son was awarded a 4yr NROTC scholarship to his first choice school, Purdue where he was also accepted. The other is did your son get accepted to all those schools? That is key. If you dont get accepted by the college then it will not matter if you get a scholarship there and you should have him change his college selection order in his NROTC portal if he didnt get in or he could be assigned by NROTC to a school he wasnt accepted to and you then have a useless scholarship and will need to wait list and ask for a change if awarded to a school he didnt get into.
