Let's start a thread for students going to NWP this Fall!
I'll start:

I'm from Georgia, and I got a Falcon Foundation Scholarship and chose NWP. I've talked with Mrs. Durbeck a lot with in the past few weeks. While I am by no means an expert, I think I've learned quite a lot from both Mrs. Durbeck and friends that have recently attended the program, so if you have any questions, feel free to ask!

One thing that I was surprised to hear is that Mrs. Durbeck told me not to apply to other academies besides USAFA. Apparently, the academies think it's dishonorable to apply to different academies if you've been selected by one of the foundations.

Anyway, I'm pretty excited to see who else is going, free agent or not!

you were given a scholarship from USAFA to go to NWP. You are not allowed to apply anywhere else.

The Falcon Foundation awards the scholarship, and then lets you chose from a list of Prep Schools as long as there's room in the school.

I believe that got_milk was attempting to say that one term of the Falcon scholarship is that Falcons agree to only apply to USAFA. You can't expect to take money from the Falcon foundation and then attend any SA except USAFA.

Oh... I misunderstood. Yeah, the FFS requires you to apply to as many nominating sources as you can, and you must accept an appointment if you get it.

NWP, definitely the best Falcon Prep school out there! Okay, maybe I'm biased, but definitely an incredible program.

I'm from Virginia and will be attending NW Prep on a Falcon Foundation Scholarship as well- so excited that I've been given this opportunity! My brother is starting his third year at USAFA and has given me a lot of insight about the academy. He says people that come from NW Prep are kind of like their own little club, haha. From what I've heard everyone who has attended the school has loved it. I'm excited to meet you all in September!

You'll be well prepared for USAFA by attending NWP. Congrats!!

I'll be attending nw prep as a free agent next year from Colorado. So excited to meet you all!

Hey! I'm from Washington State and attending NWP this fall. I'm so pumped to meet everyone! My brother just finished his second year at USAFA and tells me that all the NWP kids are doing very well and loved the program, so I am beyond excited to experience it for myself.

Fly, fight, and win!

Hello!
I'm looking for an opinion here. Would it be more beneficial to attend NWP as a free agent should I not receive an appointment or scholarship this year, or should I go on to attend a university and join either AROTC/AFROTC ? Any input is much appreciated!

If I do not receive an appointment this year, I do plan on reapplying next year.

Thank you

I was a free agent at NWP this past semester. My ACT went up to a 34 while I was there. I have not heard back from any of the academies I have applied to yet but I think I am a much better candidate this year. You really need to think about your goals. Are you dead set on the academies or do you not care about the route you take to become an officer? Once you commission as a second lieutenant nobody cares how you got there. NWP does take an extra year from your life but you are still young and if you really want to go to USAFA the Durbecks have stellar connections and will do their best to get you in.
Side note, if you really want to serve your country you should apply to every academy you are able to. All the service academies are stellar so research every one. I was dead set on AFA last year but now I am leaning towards West Point after doing more research.
Feel free to DM me with any other questions.

Hi - What makes NWP unique over NMMI, Greystone, and MMI? I can't seem to find a post/thread discussing each Civil Prep program's strengths/weaknesses? Thanks in advance!

I went to NWP just this past semester as a free agent. I'm from California so it was the closest to home. I do live in a somewhat competitive district but not nearly as competitive as it would be if I were to live in Colorado. I was fortunate to be able to receive an appointment this time around. I'll be more than happy to answer any of your questions that you have about NWP as a free agent or Falcon.
