Hello, this is my first post but I wanted to see if I could get some more info.

I’ve been academically accepted to The Citadel and I’m on track to be medically accepted in the coming weeks. My goal is to become a Marine Officer and I’m just wondering how they give out their NROTC scholarships? I’m aware that I’d be applying for a 3 year one, but any more insight is helpful.

Congrats

You matriculate and rock hell er challenge week -
You participate in the NROTC Unit - FTX, PT, cleaning the football stadium at oh dark 30 on Sunday mornings all that stuff
You blast the PT test, both Citadel and USMC
You earn at least Dean's List if not Gold Stars
You stay off the quad

YOU ABSOLUTELY DO NOT GET AN ALCOHOL VIOLATION

Go Dogs! Beat VMI!

Advice above is all good. Recognize that applying for a 3 year campus based scholarship - you are application is to the Marine Corps not The Citadel and you need to meet their profile. The most important aspect is your GPA, and your PT score. GPA first semester will be key - strive for better than just a 3.0. Concentrate on the PT elements that the Marine Corps focuses on. The attached contains the elements of the Marine Corps NROTC option physical fitness test: https://www.nrotc.navy.mil/pdfs/MCBUL 6100 DTD 15DEC16.pdf

Best of luck
