just found out today that i wasn’t not selected for the early decision nrotc no scholarship. I was told only 4 people from the south marine recruiting stations were selected. What this means is that the second board that convenes February 11th should produce more selections. I’m still pretty confident, but i am going to rerun my pft. Keep up hope everyone!! It isn’t over yet.

BTW I’m from FL.

@abbyad01 That's the right attitude. Should the second board not pan out do not rule out joining NROTC MO anyway. Thats was DS's course and he was awarded a scholarship during sophomore year. There is more than one way to skin a cat. Hope the next round pans out for you.

@abbyad01 I hope you get the Scholarship on the nxt Selection Board, were you notified by email or phone call?
My DS was notified via email. The CPT noted that only 22 NROTC MO scholarships were awarded for the entire West Coast. 3 of them from his entire recruiting district. Was also informed, which was very professional, that he is highly competitive. The email also had an attachment with a XLS noting the score averages/ breakouts, etc. on the pool of applicants, the first round awardees and the non-selected. It provided a good 'bell weather' on where you stand in the competition. Good luck!

It is impossible to say EXACTLY where you stand, but my OSO said this: 22 got it, 103 competed for it, 500-ish applied on the whole Western Seaboard. So if you're competitive, you're part of the 103. Unfortunately, I can't give you averages as I'm not part of the board, and it's more than just averages anyway. Crank out an awesome PFT score and you're in a good spot. Good luck!

Anyone know any information from the east coast? I’m in Michigan and got the scholarship and was just curious how many other students were awarded it on early board but no one gave me the same amount of information... curiosity killed the cat.

Best of luck to everyone for regular board! What schools are you looking at? I’m going to U of M in the fall if USNA turns me down.

Congratulations! and Go Blue!!! Excellent battalion and school.
Did you go there or know anyone there? A friend of mine is doing ROTC at U of M and says the NROTC unit there is intense... but that’s what I was hoping for :)

DS is there now and loves it. He's never described it as intense, but challenging and rewarding. From what he describes, it sounds like some squared away leaders, both in staff and mids.
