NROTC scholarship notification

ahaase14, I am sorry it didn't work out like you had hoped.

But a military officer has to face unplanned adversity and make the best of it. They have to be able to separate themselves from the emotion and make good, sound, logical decisions.

So, after a brief period of depression, frustration, anger, whatever - its time to get after it!!!

When one way is blocked... find another.
When a door closes... kick it in.
When one person tell you NO... find another to ask.

I know it may not seem like it now, but there ARE other paths to a commissioning.
 
DD received word today by e-mail and website update that she received NROTC scholarship at RPI, very excited for her!!

Sorry to hear it. I hate to see people get their hopes up in this process because it's just a damned tough process to get through and so many different factors get involved. Good luck with plan B. Wishing you the best! :thumb:

PS. In the plus side, you know now. We didn't find out until April 15.

Congrats everyone! I found out today I was awarded a 4 year (Tier 3 I believe) NROTC Scholarship to my first choice, FSU! SEC Champions! Still waiting to hear from USNA though. It does feel good to have plan B and C lined up... (Army and Navy ROTC).

For all those (including us) still waiting to hear fabout NROTC scholarships, I just got an email from the NROTC office of my DS No. 1 ranked school where he was waitlisted. I was asking them whether to change the ranking of the schools on his application. The response was that it is too late because "all boards are complete and they are making notifications regarding scholarships". Everyone still waiting should find out pretty soon. Good luck!
 
Tiger, do you know if that is inclusive of the NROTC Nursing and Marine options as well?

Those are separate boards so it could be worth a shot, but I expect they are in the same place. Nevertheless, you never know.

I was only asking about NROTC. Don't know about Marine or Nursing options.
 
My son has checked his NROTC portal and it says no decision has been made. Have all the scholarships gone out? Any idea on when he might hear something?
 
Can only address Marine Option, but my son got an email the first week of March saying that the regular (2nd) Marine Option board was complete and that the recruiting office will not know the outcome for a few weeks.
 
He got it from the recruiting officer.

Is there a deadline for notification for NROTC? Is April 15th the deadline for that as well or could it be much later before they have to notify applicants?

I do not know if there is a deadline. I DO know that DS did not receive a negative reply for NROTC MO until about April 15. My gut tells me they work toward April 15 if only to leave time for folks to execute plan B prior to May 1.
 
Do you have any idea when the notifications for the sideload or advanced standing marine option notifications will go out? I believe the deadline for the material to be in was in the last week or so.
