Help! DD accepted to both NROTC and a varsity team sport (practice 2x per week, plus game day) at her first choice school. Is doing both a non-starter? How flexible is the NRTOC time commitment if there are conflicts in schedule?

She will need cooperation from the coach as well to make this all work.... if it can. Without cooperation from both sides it is unlikely to work out for her. There will be times where each side needs to give a little.

DS is a 3/C MIDN and varsity swimmer at UMBC. They are in the Maryland NROTC Consortium with UMD (assuming from your user name). The leadership has been very accommodating, but as stated above, the team has to be flexible also. Like mentioned above your DD should give the unit a call to introduce herself and discuss.

Yes, DD made the cheer team, committed to UMD, then found out about NROTC. Just trying to make it all work. She will contact the unit. Thanks for your help!

It can work if the unit will work with your DD. One of my son's friends/roommates is a national champ gymnast, another was on the cheer squad.
