Thanks for reminding us Stealth_81! 😜

Travel day went uncharacteristically smoothly for our DS headed to NSI out of BNA. He hooked up with a handful of other participants who were boarding the same flight, so they're already making connections. His mom was listed for the arrival phone call, which came in around 1430. She told me that she could hear a lot of noise in the background and that he quickly said "Mom, I'm here safe and sound. I love you." When she started to offer typical momma words of encouragement, he interrupted her and said, "Mom, I'm sorry - I gotta go".

At first, this was a bit of a sad moment for her...but later that evening we found the aforementioned posts on FB from last' year's NSI sessions - including several pics of the "phone call" moment. This put it all in perspective (and actually made me LOL). You can see the sense of (ahem) "urgency" in the photos. And, as many others have posted, I fully expect for a different DS to return to Nashville in a few weeks...😎

And is an amazing Ensign now that just commissioned. Trust the process

Thank you. I'm new to this forum and have read in previous posts that there are photos of the students arriving. May I know where these are posted? Thank you again.

They are posted on the Navy ROTC command Facebook page

More pics have been posted an hour ago on the FB page... various drills on a ship... Hope some parents can spot their DS/DD (I didn't).

My DS leaves on Thursday for NSI 2. I have been preparing myself for this day and all I can think about is “in less than 48 hours, he will be stepping into a whole new chapter of his life and I won’t be there to watch him spread his wings”. This is so hard for me. He’s my youngest of 3 and I’m beyond proud of him but wishing I had more time. His dad passed away when he was only 3 so I have raised him completely on my own. Thank you for all the comments. I need them desperately. He has worked so hard to prepare for NSI (at the gym now, I’m fact) and I know he will do well. I pray for God to surround him with people that are for him, not against him. People that will see him for the young man he is and the leader he will become.

My DD leaves Thursday for NSI cycle 2 (we're west coast, so early morning flight). She's been going to gym for past few weeks, trying to be ready because she's a good swimmer but not so fast at running.

I think my DD will be fine, with experience at several Sea Cadet trainings, including a cross-country trip where she flew alone. I had to get comfortable with her being gone, which was a challenge as a single mom. But every time, she returned more confident and resilient.

We can trust that our kids were selected for their scholarships because they're smart and resourceful. They'll probably bond with other candidates very quickly as they rely on each other for teamwork. I believe our kids will be surrounded by people who want them to do well at NSI, beginning their journey to future years of service to our country.
(I'll have tissues ready for the graduation live-stream.)

My son is coming from the west coast, as well. Maybe they will be on the same flight (Seattle?)! We are all sharing the same feelings!
