Permit to Report Class 2026

FWIW (ignore username I'm a mid) on my I-Day they barely collected any of the PTR paperwork. Plenty of people showed up missing more than half of it and nobody ever noticed. PTR letter, medical stuff, and SF-86 are essential (although they eventually returned the SF-86 and then made you manually re-enter all of it on a computer after plebe summer, so you could even get away with not having this form) but I just threw away 2/3 of the papers from I-Day cleaning out my plebe room because nobody ever collected any of it or they just made me fill it out again over the course of I-Day. Don't take this as me telling you not to do the paperwork, but it's not the end of the world if it's not filled out to perfect government specifications because if it's actually important, they'll make you do it again, and if it's not important, it might not even get collected.

And there we have a lesson in Classic Military Admin!

Is the SF-86 form just printed out and hand written on…or is it done and actually typed on a computer?

DS reported to me that the PDF could not be saved on a "personal" computer. Probably some PDF setting or something. Anyhow, he typed into the PDF and printed the relevant pages as he went. No electronic copy was made.

To answer the question: do whichever you prefer. Apparently they collect the form, then give it back to you later for you to enter into a DoD computer (during PS).

Since it is full of PII (personally identifiable information), they do not want it submitted on a non-secure system. Most people do not have access to that. So you will do it there.

Example:
D Company, 8 Platoon, 4 Squad
The Platoon number is what Company you'll be in, during the AC year.

So in the example above - you'll be in 8th Company - but anyone who looks for you in photos during Plebe Summer is going to need to look for that yellow flag with a "D" on it, because (just during Plebe Summer) you'll be in "Delta Company".

The letter is your Plebe Summer Company. So Alpha Company will have 1st and 2nd Platoon. Once the Academic Year starts Alpha doesn’t exist and your PS Platoon becomes your company. The letter companies are only for PS.

So typically: Alpha 1st Platoon Plebes will go to 1st Company and Alpha 2nd Platoon Plebes will go to 2nd Co. for the Academic year.

Son is O company, 28th platoon. They did not list a squad at this time. And they have their alpha numbers with it.

His LT advisor from ROTC was in 28th. He said it was the best because 6th BN was one of the "Furthest from the class, closest to liberty!"

Ok, dumb question. For the parent ID access form, do we need to fill one out for each parent? Or just one, and they will issue two cards?

And another ..... if I have my Government issued CAC from work (NASA), can I use that to get on base, or does it need to be a DoD issued one?
