Hi all,

I am currently finishing up my AROTC scholarship application and getting ready to take my physical fitness assessment and cannot seem to find scores or averages for the pull ups, push ups and miles anywhere. I have searched this forum and googled it and have not found any averages or minimum, maximums, etc. like the Service Academies provide for the CFA. Does anyone know whether that data is just simply not compiled and released or whether it is somewhere I can access?

Maximums are as follows
Push Ups: 71
Sit Ups: 78
2 mile run: 13:00

If you're thinking about the minimums, you have the wrong mindset. I doubt there are hard minimums to be found anywhere, and this test as a whole has very achievable maxes.

For AROTC, don't rush to finish your application, instead work on submitting the best application possible even if it means more time training.

Thanks for the extra insight on my timeline for the application. I am also working on my West Point application and have been unsure on how and when to prioritize my plan B applications which include this AROTC scholarship. I'd like to get it in in time for the October 8th Board but I will take your advice and slow down as well.

I will chime in a bit, our son was awarded NROTC first board. We let our breath out as plan b was in hand early. What a relief. Didn't see any other andvantage to it until Member of Congress interviews. The feedback he got from all 3 panels was that having the scholarhsip in hand early was a positive as was having been accepted into his school. It demonstrated a willingness to serve, ability to get applications done and complete and having an overall plan b executed. Again, just my 2 cents.

Now, that won't be a positive if you rush and submit a poor application. Our son started his NROTC app in September, so you are well ahead of that timeline. The academy apps are brutal and require every attention to detail and no room for sloppy or rushed information. You should have time to train, practice interviewing (very important) and review your essays and still get in front of the 1st board. Make sure you submit the best application possible. Good luck to you!

+1 to Montana State.
The push ups and sit ups are only 1 minute long and for males I believe 50 is the max for both.
For males I believe the mile run max is 6:30.
When I was looking for this information last August someone linked me a picture of a book that listed the maximums for men.

And, it's not sit ups, it's curl ups...you will only take this test one time...hopefully. Don't even get me started on what the current test is and what it will be in October...it's complicated. But one minute of pushups, one minute of curlups, and a one mile run Do the best you can and then move on. This accounts for the least amount of any component of the Army ROTC application, so don't sweat it. Spend your time studying for the SAT, preparing for your interview, and making sure the rest of your application is tight.
