Weekends- can a plebe leave the school grounds at all if we were to visit? Thought I heard maybe on Sundays?
Make plans now for Parents Weekend this year over Labor Day. Schedule starts early Friday morning with colors. There will likely be opportunity to see the plebes swearing-in ceremony, chance to go to classes with your mid (as space available), lots of merchandise for sale by the parent groups and meet others. On Friday night, there is a Women's Soccer game that will be mandatory for mids and plebes to attend. Saturday will have a March On in the morning of the regiment. Be prepared to see a changed person in your plebe in only a couple of short months.Weekends- can a plebe leave the school grounds at all if we were to visit? Thought I heard maybe on Sundays?
Not sure how it is now but I remember seeing my parents on parents weekend and then not seeing them again till Thanksgiving. That was in the 80's. Might be a little more lax now. You can even send birthday cakes to Delano Hall for your kids birthday.Weekends- can a plebe leave the school grounds at all if we were to visit? Thought I heard maybe on Sundays?
I only ever saw my parents over most Christmases (missed one when I was out at sea) and between ships in the summer, but they lived thousands of miles away. Sending a birthday cake to Delano may be nice, but it will certainly draw attention, maybe unwarranted. I have always felt that the forces isolation was training for a life at sea. Back in the 70s and 80s, we were not well connected at all, and I rarely contacted any loved ones at sea, except for the rare off hour international phone call. Was a bit easier when running coastwise. Not sure how it is now but I remember seeing my parents on parents weekend and then not seeing them again till Thanksgiving. That was in the 80's. The concept of not drawing attention to your family member, is that mostly when they are a Plebe? Can they get a birthday cake/care package when they are upper classmen?I only ever saw my parents over most Christmases (missed one when I was out at sea) and between ships in the summer, but they lived thousands of miles away. I would not make that assumption. The culture is different now than it once wasSending a birthday cake to Delano may be nice, but it will certainly draw attention, maybe unwarranted.
